Rheem is the best I have one and it's 16 years old, I use it all the time and NO problems!!!  That should tell you everything!!!!

there are a lot of good ac system York, Rheem, Trane.... list goes on and on me personally I would go with the highest seer rating and warranty. Effeciency is the most important! honestly a lot of the manufacters use the same equipment

American Standard is supreme in quality.They also own Trane and cost a little more.The warranties and SEER ratings available these days are good with all makes and models though.I also like Rheem.

At the other end of the price range is a Goodman or Ruud unit, but not to say they are not quality units,cause they are.

But an American Standard unit is still superior compared to all other makes.

It is not the equipment that makes the best A/C system but who installs the system. Air flow and return sizing must be checked, the line set must be the right size or you will not get what you paid for. A good vacuum pump with micron gauge is a must. The best equipment in the world if put in wrong will always give you problems. Pick your contractor by how much looking around he does and make sure he pulls a vacuum on the new system. He should wait until the house reaches the normal temp inside before he can check the charge. if he starts it up and leaves before the house is normal temp inside he did not do the job right.
