Question:

For a first horse would a mule be the best?

I would probably just be doing western pleasure and trail. Maybe english and jumping? Please help!

  1. your trainer should be able to match you with a suitable horse.  i have heard good things about mules... but your trainer would know best.


  2. No, a mule would not be a good first horse.

    If you are looking at getting a first horse, I would start off with a older Quater Horse, probably a gelding too. Since they are not as snitty and stuck-up. And if you have never rode a horse, look into riding lessons and get books about it. Because becoming a good rider takes a lot of time and hard work with your horse.

  3. No, a mule would be a terrible first horse! They are very stubborn, and can be extremely cranky.

    A Quarter Horse, or a QH cross is always a great horse. They are level headed, athletic, and very versatile.
