  1. Paella and Spanish tortilla.

  2. Find out how to make simple tapas.  Paella may be too difficult and time consuming for a school project.  There are many types of tapas that are simple and consist of aged serrano ham and French bread, olives, cheeses, cured fish, etc.  Ham, olives and shellfish are major ingredients in Spanish cooking.  Tortilla Espanola, which actually tastes more like a cold potato casserole and nothing like what Americans think of as tortillas (for burritos, soft tacos, etc.)

An alcohol-free sangria would be easy too.  Slice some oranges, lemons and apples and put them in a fruit punch with 7-up and you have a recreation of a popular Spanish drink.

Patatas bravas are sure to go over well in school too, as they're basically French fries with a special ketchup/mayonnaise like dressing on top.

There's really a lot of options if you just google tapas recipes.

  3. For something simple you can make Tapas and Paprika followed by Marzipan as dessert.

  4. A typical meal in Spain (lunch, the big meal of the day) is a first plate, some sort of soup, macaroni, or rice dish (like paella, but there are others...that is the most typical)  and a second dish of a meat (simply prepared) or eggs, usually just sunny side up,with some sort of potato.  Usually accompanied by wine (red, only) or beer.  Actually, one usually has to pay extra for soda in most restaurants.  You would be best to supply some sort of juice for the drink in class, of course.

Here's a couple of links with recipes:
