  1. Practice both hits. down the line is really good but if the blockers work you out they will start to shut you down. this is where you change to crosscourt. When you get really good at both and if the sets are good while your in the air take a quick look at which way the block is going and hit the opposite

  2. Where ever the block isn't, you hit.

  3. As answered above, you want to have both shots.  You will have the most power with your cross court shot.  You will have more winners with your line shot.  Since most right side players are right handed and can not hit the line shot from the right side, most blockers block cross court.  Since you are left handed and on your "power" side, you will be able to hit the line for more winners.

  4. I'm left-handed and played right side, so I can answer this!

Pretty much, make sure you learn how to hit both cross court and line.

    - The easiest to hit is cross court, since you're already coming in at an angle.

    - Although, thinking of my experience hitting, it's harder for the other team to receive if you hit down the line.

It's technically harder for the back middle to turn their body to pass it to the setter if you hit line.

Also, I think that's where I had my most power, because i once gave a team's libero a bloody nose :)

Although, if you have a strong approach, you're cross court hit will be powerful as well.

Just make sure to learn both well, and to hit around the blockers...but not out of the court :)

    Good luck this year!

  5. Being a left handed right side allows you to be more valuable on the right side.  You can turn it cross court, his the line shot, and even hit the sharp court shot without having to turn your shoulders, like you'd have to do if you were on the left side.  You sound pretty young, so you have a lot of growing to do.  To be a good volleyball player, hitting all the open shots are key.  It all depends too on the defense your oponents are playing.  Good luck!

  6. ive plaeyd high leval ball and you dont want to hit the ball in the same direction every time so practise both ways

  7. Whether you're left- or right-handed, playing at the 4 or 2 position, you need to be able to hit down the line, cross-court, and into the middle of the court.  You have to keep the defense guessing.  If you hit a certain way all the time, though it may be your strong suit, you'll become predictable and easier to defend.  Also, you have to take what the defense gives you.  If the line is open, hit down the line.  Hit to where there are no defenders.  If the opposing team's blockers are very good, you'll have to work around them...either over or around the block.  If a back row defender is particularly good, hit away from them.  If you are known as a "one-way" hitter, the defense will have an easier time blocking or digging your shots.

  8. You can go anywhere, if you keep hitting line then your opponent will be ready to dig there every time, same with the others. You can go linem cross court, sharp corner, anything, mix it up and line your left shoulder with the ball.
