  2. Turn of the 20th century clothing. Long dress or skirt with button color top and a Cameo around your neck. Put your hair in a bun. Low heel boots.

    Check different websites for late 1800's and early 1900's fashions.

  3. Madam CJ Walker was a very classy lady.

    But not overtly "showy".

    Very turn of the century dress.

    She passed away in 1919....so.

    She was later in her life a city girl, living in the downtown area of Indianapolis.

    Indianapolis at that time was a conservative city, with a group of professional African Americans.....not a very large group, but very active.

    I actually used to live in her old neighborhood, part of the revitalization area in Indy.

    Huge 2, sometime 3 story old Victorian type houses.

    Madam Walker was a lady of the Late Victorian age and dressed like one.

    You want to look for the time period between 1900-1920.
