If they were to be the only one in there, that is...

If not, is there such thing as mini turtles or something like that?

  1. my neighbor keeps his in a 15 gallon tank and he has 2 and 1 is a red eared slider. and theyve lived for like 10 years and theyre still alive. your talking about 1. it'll be fine.

  2. It completely depends on what species of turtle you're talking about.  If you referring to a Red Eared Slider, the most common aquatic turtle in the pet trade, the answer is a resounding NO.  This turtle really needs at least a 50 gallon tank, and a 75+ would be better.

  3. for land turtles prolly at least a 40 gallon breeder for aqautic turtles prolly 50 + gallon

  4. turtles are really dirty and contaminate the water fast. Some people keep them in tanks that small but they don't live very long. they are very hard to take care of and anyone who says otherwise hasnt had the turtle long enough to know.  i don't think people should keep water turtles at all because they are so hard to keep healthy adn they die slowly and painfully. maybe you would be better off with a tortoise

  5. If it's a greek tortoise, I'd recomend a 40-50

If it's a red eared slider- It'll need to be anything bigger than 60.

But for a baby turtle, I think 20 is quite fine. But Asap, switch to a new tank.

  6. I have a slider. He's about a year old, but he's not that big. I have him in a 10g tank right now. He fits in it perfectly. Enough room to swim and bask. Depends on what type of turtle you have.

  7. Until the shell gets to be 2" long, 20 gallons is fine. Then, you need to move up to a tank that will suffice for an adult. This could be anything from 55 gallons for a stinkpot to hundreds of gallons for some of the snappers.

The musk turtles, like the stinkpot, are the smallest turtles you can own legally.

  8. For one hatchling a 20 gallon is plenty of room.  but  even the smallest adult turtle needs a tank larger than a 20 gallon.  no there is no such thing as a mini turtle.  these "mini turtles"  that people buy are generally baby red eared sliders that will soon grow from 10 to 12 inches.  If you are wanting to house a reptile in a 20 gallon i suggest you look at lizards.  something like a leopard gecko.
