I am very pale and would like to get get a little tan going on my body. Also, what time of day is optimal for a skin color like mine to get a solid tan? Since i hardly do any tanning in the past, how long should i let my front side face the sun? And my back?

  1. use spf 15 or 30 but if you look like ur turning red and not tan use a higher spf.  idk how long it will take. depends if you have lots of pigment or not.  so try it out.

  2. you should probably be using a 30.... only stay out for 3-4 hours the first time.. the sun is its strongest in the afternoon... about 12-3ish. and you can time your flipping when laying own to get an even tan, but i suggest going in the pool or running around doing some other activity, it is a lot more fun and it doesn't seem as hot. Also if you feel that your face is burning or is more sensitive, you should put more protection on it or cover your face with a T shirt.

  3. i'm super pale and i usually use spf 70 so i don't tan at all, but you could try a lower one, i would go no lower than spf 30.

also don't spend too much time in the sun, maybe 15 min. a side?

you could also try those lotions that build a tan on your skin over a week or so, i think dove and jergens are brands that carry a product like that.

those also give your skin a base so you won't burn as easily

  4. I would use he minimum spf15 if you are fair.  HEY how about saving your skin from sun damage and head to the salon and get your tan airbrushed on.  You will thank me when you are older and dont have the wrinkles the rest of the sun worshippers will have!

  5. SPF is only found in sun screen. It is to protect you from the suns rays :)  You really shouldn't be tanning its HORRIBLE  for you and casues lots of problmes  and makes you age faster.

Also most  really  pale ppl will NOT tan  they just burn and peel :)  You should  just use a bronzer its like  a rub on tan. Or go to a tanning salon and  do a spray on tan.

  6. I'm gonna get alot of thumbs down for this.. Oh well

When I first started tanning I sat out in the sun 15 mins on each side with no sunscreen. I increased the time every second day by adding another 5-10 minutes depending on how hot it was. Pretty soon I could spend half an hour on each side without burning. I DID burn once or twice but only on my face because it's extra sensitive. Once I reached my base tan i'd rub a little baby oil on my body (WARNING: this stuff soaks in the rays FAST - cut down your tanning time by half if you plan on using this). Keep in mind that baby oil will only work if you have a base tan first.

If your going to be outside for long periods of time (eg over 2 hours) I would tan for the recommended mins mentioned above and straight after apply the suncreen to your face and body (spf30 or whatever you choose). DO NOT WEAR BABY OIL IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE IN THE SUN FOR LONG PERIODS!

    If you follow my advice

after you tan your front (face, stomach, legs etc) make sure you put sunscreen on your face or cover it with a towel when you lay on your stomach to tan your back, if you don't the sun will still hit your face and make you burn like crazy since your pale and most likely sensitive.

    Good luck

  7. The best time of day is 11am til 4pm, thats when the sun is the hottest. You can use a SPF 4, you still get some protection, but you will need to reapply about every 30 minutes or so even if you are swimming. I would tan each side 20 minutes before turning over. You will probably sunburn alittle anyway. Just use some caution when tanning. Happy Tanning!!
