I'm about to purchase my first car. I do not need an elaborate car...rather..the cheapest. Now i just need sme advice on how cheap is too cheap. Because i need to be able to drive it..and i don't need to spend more money on repair rather than the purchase of the car. Thanks!

  1. The first two cheap cars that provide reliability that come to mind are the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic.  Both of these can be had for I think about 17 or 18 thousand.

  2. The secret to buying an inexpensive car is spending a lot of time looking and comparing, and getting a professional inspection of any vehicle you think you want to buy. Never, ever, take the word of the seller about a car's condition. Get it inspected and get a CarFax report BEFORE you buy. If you find problems after the purchase, it's too late. You can't take it back even if the seller lied to you. Used cars are generally sold "as-is" meaning there is no guarantee.

  3. Just buy a Honda. Any Honda. If you can drive a manual transmission, even better. The first cars I bought were german because i could afford the upkeep. I have since bought 3 Hondas('01 Accord, '04 Si and an '05 Odyssey). I even owned a Ford Festiva, one of the cheapest and best cars I've owned! Not one problem since owning them. It just depends on how well you can maintain a car.
