say there isn't a god, and after we die we all go into the ground or just float about on earth or get reincarnated. great, we were wrong and you were right but we are all here together now in one place.

now, say that God IS real. then, what will happen to you after YOU die? i would rather be safe than sorry, if there truly is a heaven and h**l i sure would rather go to heaven. as for you, where would you go?

  1. That kind of logic only works on believers, you see because your belief instills with it that sense of fear. The non believers would be as apt to listen to someone tell them they will only get coal for Christmas if they are bad because only the believers will be worried......and we all still get our legos come the 25th of December. It was a valiant effort but believing in something out of fear doesn't really jive much with the scientific community.

  2. This is the biggest argument you hear from Christians; better safe than sorry. Well what you don't consider is the billions of other people who are just as religious as you but they don't believe in YOUR god. Maybe you need to think about the question more. I believe in one god, and that means one God for everybody, he created Jesus to speak to a certain group of people he created Mohummad, Buddha, Abraham, Moses all of the gods and prophets you hear about are relavent because they speak to the people and bring God closer to and all of us. Why then would he exclude any group of people? Not believing in God doesn't mean that they don't believe in something, and if YOU are truly God Fearing you'd realize that there is a purpose for this, so for the people that believe they just go away after death to fertalize the world, or they float around creating energy than that is part of Gods plan. Really examine your faith and ask the real question: Why is my faith so unforgiving?

  3. You do know this question's been done to death, don't you?

  4. what is death? What is life? Answer me these riddles and you won't need god to help you. You will understand the universe and everything in it is actually as it should be....

  5. toilet

  6. hi Clarissa,  I think that one person doesn't have to believe in god just for the fear of not do it. One person have to believe just because he or she understands, feels, is convinced about the existence of his or her god.

Is my humble opinion. Sorry if I made mistakes writing, I speak spanish. :)

  7. "be safe than sorry" that is the most ridiculous testament to faith I have ever heard....and who other than your Preacher says that there is something after death. Grow up travel the world and read than just being safe

  8. Please excuse me..... for I truly believe.

I just wish to thank your for your labors and service in His Holy name+

I reckon that you will be very busy for a very long time n His service.

  9. amen

  10. What if he's real and he doesn't like people who play "better safe than sorry?"

Also, the question implies we can somehow save ourselves by "willing" faith. This is not biblical.

  11. how are u trying to convince non-believers by telling them that god will place them in heaven or h**l.. it just doesn't make sense.. i am a believer.. but i use common sense before i judge people

  12. The question is what makes your faith any more true then the hundreds of other faiths out there that say something other then what your religion says? What makes a religion true? The amount of followers who follow it? Christianity and Islam are neck and neck, closely followed by Hinduism. I guess I'll convert to whichever has the most when I die, cause that one obviously is the true faith.

  13. What if you choose the wrong god to believe in and still end up in "h**l"? There are thousands to choose from you know.

It seems to me that if a god is willing to send me to h**l solely on the basis of not believing in him, then he is not a god worth worshiping in the first place.

As for me, being that I believe in no gods, I guess according to you and countless others, I'll be going to h**l. Don't worry though, my handbasket's all packed.

  14. he isn't real, so i don't have anything to worry about.

believing in god is as dumb as believing in santa claus.

  15. Well h**l must be filled with nice people. And h**l is supposed to be bad.. So realy its an athiest heaven instead of a christian h**l =] [[hypotheticaly speaking.  there is no heaven or h**l.]

  16. No one really knows except the dead and they sure aren't telling. Personally I'm just going to be the best person I can be and try to do the right thing and deal with it when it comes. I think that's all anyone can do

  17. It's called Pascal's Wager and it's been debated since the mid 1600's.

It will contunue to be debated until the end of time.

  18. I dont really believe in anything...but I think as long as I am a good person whoever or whatever created me will be nice enough to send me to a good place. I mean h**l can be full of critical nice people and if it is would it really be such a bad place :D

  19. I personally believe that there's something that created life itself. Whether it was god or not we won't know until we die. Religion was created by the goverment to keep society under control. Politics and Religion are like Peanut Butter & Jelly, both go wonderfully together.

    For example: Christianity

Christianity is a hoax of the Egyptian Book of The Dead. The sun being "god/jesus" and the night being the "devil/satan"

    Good vs Evil

    Dark vs Light

The birth of Jesus is a bunch of astrological phenomenons morfed together. The bible has been passed from generation to generation and a simple sentence such as "jesus walked along the river side" could've easily been changed to "Jesus walked on water"

"I won't beleive it, until i see it." - Samuel Goldwyn

I'm not trying to change your views though. That's not what im here for. If you think there's a god and deep inside your heart you know this to be true, hold on to it with all your might.

  20. i guess that's pascal wager which has been proven wrong by R. Dawkins,

im sure you can find his argument on the net,

but what if you were wrong and the Zeus was the real god?!

what if the muslims were right and you were wrong?

    where would you go then?!

    see my point?

  21. if God is really, then im sure he'll understand why i didnt believe in him, because you cant expect someone to believe in something that they cant see. but you my friend will always live trying to please someone that most likely doesnt even exist.

  22. This is nothing to do with philosophy. Keep mythology to R&S

  23. Hey... please give me 1 bit of proof and I'll believe in him.. man I'll worship him until he's sick of my prayer-spam

1 bit of proof and I'll go hardcore Christian or Islamic or Buddhist... or whatever

Just one bit of proof that mr.god exists and I will...

    Well ? Well ??

  24. What you're putting out is Pascal's wager which is nothing but flawed logic.

Say you believe in the judeo-christian god, according to many, many other religions believing in him/her will have you put in the equivalent of h**l or worse. It almost makes sense to believe if you ignore all other mythologies and religions.

    Sorry no dice. ;)

  25. Say i'm an atheist, who just for a second, entertained the idea of heaven and h**l being real, and considered which i would call home after death.  I know heaven would be it.  I know because , even though i didnt kiss gods *** in real life, i was a good person.  I was a good mom, i was an honest citizen, hard worker, compassionate and caring.  There are hundreds of reasons i woul go to heaven and none why i wouldnt.

  27. But is fake believing really going to convince God.  If God is all knowing won't he know who only believes because they are afraid of going to h**l.

  28. see that would work with that philosophy but the problem is getting the people to actually believe in God, that is the issue, if people say they believe in God just to have a safety net there when they die it doesn't mean that they will go to heaven because you have to live your life in a way that honors God not just hoping that he'll accept you when your dead. People honestly believe that this world isn't made by a higher power but the conditions which we live in cannot be explained by science, since no one can prove life after death then we're all stuck here in a battle for what everyone should believe in. If I was a scientist and believed all that baloney about life just ending and that being it, then I'd be making a better effort to live a great life, since I know and believe in God then I don't have to worry as much about dying because I can believe in where I'll be later, there the believers fit into your philosophy as far as if there is a God or not and if we're wrong then we'll just be wrong and there won't be eternal life, and if we're right then there's nothing to worry about.

  29. I don't get why you bothered asking if you're just going to preach at us.

I don't think I'll bother dignifying this with a response.

  30. First if god is real then there is evidence to make a case that god is rational and that religions are not.

Second assuming god is real which one and why should we worship him to avoid h**l or to get into heaven and just because god is real does not mean that heaven and h**l are real.

But lets assume that they are then how do we know which religion to choose when they are all absurd and lack good arguments or objective evidence in support of their beliefs.

Your hypothetical asks more questions than it resolves.

Nice try but I was born with a brain between my ears not a bible.

I will not insult god, if he exists, by ignoring his gift of rationality and intelligence.

The problem is not if god exists instead you should be focusing on how religious faith, or more accurately pretending something or believing something without good evidence or arguments, you should be giving this issue attention because it is the main problem non-believers have with religious ideas.

  31. Christianity is the religion of fear.  If there is a God, it is said that he can read what is in your heart. So you can waste your time being "safe, not sorry" by going to church and reading The Bible, but unless you truly believe it, you will go to h**l with the rest of us heretics.  Why would a book give you eternal life? I would rather live my life as a good person and have no regrets.
