  1. crunches are best if you want abs. dont do sit up.1 crunch =3 sit ups.

  2. Yes crunches are good, Superman is VERY good, Halves are VERY good (Like superman but backwards - lay flat on your back and lift your legs and upper torso about 6 inches off the ground - your butt should be the only thing still on the ground - and hold as long as you can. GREAT for abs)

You should also do some eleves. This will strengthen your ankles and your calves. Do about fifty on each foot:

    25 left

    25 right

    25 left

    25 right

Just warning you will feel the burn. Just do it periodically. find a counter, table or chair to hold on to and up down on one foot at a time from your ankles.

Also it's great to be flexible for dance team (but not ALWAYS required) I would recommend stretching your splits. they don't need to be perfect they'll help you to kick higher if anything.

    Have fun on dance team!!

    Sandwich

  3. have you learned the "superman"?

    1. lay down on your stomach

    2. keep your stomach and hips down while lifting your arms and feet off the ground

    3. hold for as long as you can (you will be able to gradually increase the amount of time you can do this)

you can add that to your crunches! it helps with your back muscles (my dance teacher said it helps with the abs too).  it works really well for me.

    streching is also essential.

    good luck! :)

  4. i hope you're not planning to actually go onto your toes while standing up, cause that will ruin your feet. but if you mean going on the balls of your feet, you need to worry about ankle strength more than ab work.

for stronger ankles - point and flex while you're sitting down, at the bar, watching tv, ANYWHERE. it helps tremendously. also, stand on one leg, hold onto a table/ chair for stability, and plie and releve for 3-4 counts of 8 on both legs.

for stronger abs - sit at the edge of your bed/  a chair with your legs in front of you, lean back so you feel your abs tighten, place your hands on the back of your head. lift your right leg up, and at the same time touch your left elbow to your right knee. 50-100 a day is what i usually do, sometimes two times a day.

    hope this helps :)

  5. Yeah!

Try starting off with like 20 and then everyday add one!

  6. Thats what i do ive  been dancing for 7 years

  7. It isn't about how strong your abs are.  If you stand normally and try to lift your ribs up and make them as big as possible, then rise onto your toes.  You should be able to stand their for ours with a bit of practice.

If you still want stronger abs then crunches don't actually don't make much difference (been there, done that), just always walk around with your stomach muscels tight.
