I'm sorry but I think it's unfair to sit here and judge people's ages by how they look.  It's fair enough to suspect, but unless you have some kind of natural ability to accurately determine any person's age simply by looking at them, you should be working for the CIA.

Two elderly Chinese women have been sentenced to a year of “re-education through labor” after they repeatedly sought a permit to demonstrate in one of the official Olympic protest areas, according to family members and human rights advocates.

The women, Wu Dianyuan, 79, and Wang Xiuying, 77, had made five visits to the police this month in an effort to get permission to protest what they contended was inadequate compensation for the demolition of their homes in Beijing.

During their final visit on Monday, public security officials informed them that they had been given administrative sentences for “disturbing the public order,” according to Li Xuehui, Ms. Wu’s son.

Mr. Li said his mother and Ms. Wang, who used to be neighbors before their homes were demolished to make way for a redevelopment project, were allowed to return home but were told they could be sent to a detention center at any moment. “Can you imagine two old ladies in their 70s being re-educated through labor?” he asked. He said Ms. Wang was nearly blind.

As they once again said there is no proof.. as they re-looked at their birth certificates/passports. But I don't understand that, as the accusation is that those documents have been doctored... So how would re-looking at the same documents answer any questions? It won't, and it didn't.

They're saying what other way is there to prove it. Can't they pull school records and see when they started school and what grade they are in?

Well if it is true and some of those girls are under 16, they will have to always be their new age....

Really, I have an asian friend who could pass for a nine year old, but she IS actually sixteen. h**l, she's even one month older than I am.

Look at it, fairly... without bias:

Funny thing is, how many times in history -- think about it -- would atheletes/etc. complain that they were competing and LOSING to 11 year olds? (it's incredible, but they're good now aren't they?). The rule is there to stop abuse, but that clearly already went on.. and was State sponsored so the Olympic Committee will have to do something -- but for sure, you KNOW it's not going to be done before Sunday, when there's so much more butt-kissing to get (if you're with the IOC in China).. and will be done when they're all SAFELY out of the country. The advantage of using 11, 12 yr olds -- maybe because they're light as a feather and have NO Hips for extra weight that puberty would bring? (you see 1-2 of their high-divers? of COURSE they wouldn't make a splash if they weigh 60 pounds)

I'm hearing it all around how the Chinese are cheating and the judges are leaning their way especially on marks in Gymnastics & Diving etc. (and that's always a possibily as Bribery should BE an Olympic sport!)...

But the Chinese have won 8 GOLD medals in weight-lifting and that's as pure a sport as you'll ever see. (There's the heavy thing, pick it up.) This is absolutely shocking to me, since the stereo-type of the Chinese is smaller, lighter and less strong (physicality). But, they've been Best in the world here, and in Men's events like Rings, etc. which are amazingly tough feats of strenght if you've ever tried it.

Funny thing is the protest and re-opened investigation was prompted by the UK (since one of the girls in question beat out a British girl for what would have been England's first medal in gymnastics in many many decades.), not the USA. The USA just sent a a protests as well. But the USA was NOT the ones to re-open this can of worms... It was Great Brittan....

Anyone who claims 'American whining' simply does not understand the facts of the situation. It was the Brits that brought this up. Deal with it... Are they now 'whiners' too?

On a side note: It's also a complete miss-use of the term, that this guy who found the evidence was "hacking", That is, unless 'using a search engine' now falls under the realm of hacking. I guess I work with a bunch of hackers here. We Google everyday!

Also please understand, this investigation is not based simply on 'how they look' (as in they appear under 16). That is just corroborating evidence to the mounting pile of official Chinese documents, and records that have been unearthed. Each one confirming He's age as 14. The way they appear so youthful just lends support to what the documents are telling us.

Let's also not forget that this issue was brought up BEFORE the games, but at that time the IOC, not wanting to offend the host nation, hedged there bets that it would all just go away.

The fact that the IOC waited so long to look in to it is disgraceful.

Age cannot be see. Especially you are western and guessing Asian age (or the other way round). Simply not asking this question and wait IOC investigation. Those people (may not be American) will be told whine if IOC report is not what they expected
