  1. As a referee for college tournaments, I have been asked to pick the all tournament team often.

Some choices are very easy.  The top one or two players just stand out for some reason.  A great hitter or a great setter or a great server usually are easily put on the team.  The problem is always picking 3 through 6.  Aggressive players are usually next.  Players that try to get every ball.  Players who hustle on every play.  (And I do not mean the fake hustlers either.  I played on a co-ed team with a player that would dive for every ball.  However, it was always after the ball hit.  And then she made a big production about getting to her feet after the play.  That was just for show.)

And as mentioned by MoMo, positive attitude is another factor.  The easiest way to get off the all tournament team is to have an attitude.  The player could be all world in ability but would not get my vote if she had a negative attitude towards the officials or her team.  To me, all tournament team means the 6 players I would pick to play for my team.

    To sum it up-

    1.  Ability

    2.  Agressiveness

    3.  Hustle

    4.  Attitude

  2. hey i have been an mvn ion tourneys and i have been on the teams.

i play travel ball and i think that the only way to get on the all tournament team is to play your hardest. if you play your hardest you may not make it because you are not the most tallented but your coatch will recognize that you tried and then you will probably get more play time.

  3. as a coach i look for a dedicated player. someone who is willing to lead the team but is also able to take instructions from me. i also look for those who are upbeat, always positive and happy. having these attitudes always keeps the team upbeat and alive on those days when i make them run. good luck.

  4. If i were scouting for players i would search for six things.

1.) I would search for two players that could bump the ball

2.) Two players that could block the ball; one would be in the middle and right side

3.) Two players that have killer serves

4.) Two players that could spike; one would be a sub.

5.) One player that could set the ball perfectly

6.) And last, a player that has excessive school spirit to cheer us on to victory.

  5. I will choose the accurate, fast reaction behavioral and patient person when choosing a coach.
