  1. Climate - hot and dry (usually!) in the summer.  We get temperatures anywhere between 23 and 32 degrees Celsius in the summer.  Winter is cold and dry.  Temperatures will dip down as low as -45 degrees in January and February, and add the wind to that, and it's a bit chilly.  Summer begins in June, and goes until around August or September.  The first snow usually arrives around Halloween, and disappears sometime in April, although there may be a couple of snowfalls after that.  We have LOTS of sunshine though, so that makes up for the cold winters.

The people are generally really friendly.  We are a very multicultural city, and have a large immigrant population.  Lots of Germans, Philippino's, Chinese, Korean, as well as refugees from Africa.  This makes it very diverse and interesting.  People are more than willing to help newcomers out, and it's easy to make friends.

The city itself is quite nice - very flat of course, being in the middle of the prairie, but there are lots of parks and green spaces.  The south end of the city is the best place to live, as the crime rate is quite high in the north end.  Auto theft is high in Winnipeg, and there are certainly places that are best avoided day and night.  Having said that, most places are perfectly safe, and it's a good place to bring up children.  I have lived in lots of different places (in three countries) and I like Winnipeg the best!
