Community colleges are quickly becoming the most economical way to attain higher education (1). Probably the most appealing aspect is the cost of tuition, which tends to be more economical than private and public four-year institutions (2). In addition, there are many associate degrees available that are carefully streamlined to assure quick training (3). Students who want or need to stay at home can schedule day or evening classes as well as online or onsite classes (4). Because there are no college dormitories, housing costs are nonexistent (5). Local communities benefit because the community college primarily trains employees for work in the immediate area (6). When the economy is doing good, the community college has good enrollment in the evening classes because the students are currently working (7). If the economy is doing poor, workers often return to day classes to get retrained in another field (8). Financial aid is no worse at the community college level (9). In fact, most students are able to qualify for some type of grant, scholarship, or financial aid making the community college experience a worthwhile investment in one's future (10).
