  1. I don't support the government teaching my children any religion in school. That is my job.

Because as messed up as religion is already, can you imagine what a frighting mess it would be after the government gets done with it?

  2.    I  am  a  Christian  and  I  do not think  they  should  teach

anything  about  God in school,s ,

they  are way  to many today  who teach  the word of God wrong

and  I  would  rather teach  my  children  the truth  at  home

      and in church,,

I am not  against  children hearing  about  God by no mean,s

but we should make sure they  are hearing the truth

and not  someone,s   what  I  believe.

  3. religion in general should be required for parochial schools only and choice in public schools (i.e. religion based classes^). evolution is a scientific theory supported by fact and therefore schools have every right to teach it in their science classes. evolution can be tested, religion cannot.

  4. "How about teaching all of them?" Sure why not, there's only about two million. Better yet, how about none.

  5. If each and every sect were given equal opportunity to be taught and learned there would be no time for "conventional" subjects like science, math, language, history, humanities, etc.  That would not serve anyone well and is why religion isn't taught till College and even than it's only an overview...no great detail is ever gone into.  I submit that such an education would put us back in the dark ages...that time when only the Church determined what was fact/knowledge.  Fortunately for humanity the East-Far East were continuing to progress during that regressive period in Western History.  PEACE!

  6. How about teaching on all of them?

  7. If they are going to teach evolution in schools which is an atheist concept, they should give equal time to creation.  They took God out of the schools and it caused chaos in the schools such as extreme lack of discipline, lack of morals, wild behavior, even shootings.  The teachers are teaching about s*x which is really something that parents should do.  The schools have no business teaching bad morals as included with their sexual teachings.  This is atheistic and wicked.  The devil walked in when God walked out and this is the way it always is when you take God out.  The ignorant don't seem to understand that or care....or maybe they WANT the devil there.  They certainly act like they do.

  8. How unoriginal.

I don't really care if they teach that in school or not, but what you said has been asked thousands of times already.

  9. The schools should not be forcing one religion on the students. They should give a fair, brief synopsis about all major religions and other religions that are local if they plan to teach them. (ALL religions would be a bit of stretch, there are so many. Goodness, you could just suddenly decide to make your own religion at any given moment.)

I do not believe they have the right to say, "The Big Bang Theory is what happened" for it is a THEORY. They do not have the right to exclude one religion either. There have been cases in which christianity has been excluded. (i.e. At X-mas, the Jewish Star, and all these other religious signs were allowed in a N.Y. school, but the Christian Nativity scene was banished.)

The students have the right to make their own decisions. After all, this is Land of the Free? We do have freedom of religion? And to exclude one is prejudice and unfair. It happens all the time, not just to Christianity, but other religions. If religion is taught, the major ones should be taught. If the Big Band Theory is taught, it should be told that it is a theory. If Evolution is taught, is should be taught that it is a theory.

Edit: I do agree with the one person who said it should be taught in a World Religion class. But then, we don't have a religion class at our school district. Like I said, the major religions plus local religions, or nothing. And stress that everything else is a theory.

Edit: For all those who say they don't want schools to teach Christianity because they are afraid of them teaching it wrong...I say it could be a real learning experience for your child. When they are adults, all around them people will be saying false things about the gospel, so this could help them learn who to discern what is false and what is true. Have them talk about it with you. They can learn a lot, and it will prepare them for the real world.

  10. Believe it or not, their is an ulterior motive for supporting creationist teaching in schools. Conservatives have been trying for years to undermine public schools for their pet-voucher-agendas. They ultimately want to create through faith based initiatives a privatized school system strategically subsidized to forward dogmatic propaganda and produce a drone-quality electorate.

  11. I do not call myself a "theist", but if you mean by this that I believe that there is something unknown to us that caused the world to come into being, then I guess I am.

Let's face it, empirical evidence as to how everything came to be is impossible.  The best we can do is theorize as to how we all got here.  No theory of evolution that I have studied can "answer" this question, no matter how "scientific", because no one is that old, no one witnessed it.  We can theorize that a species changes over time, and to some degree we even see that in the average height of human beings increasing over the centuries.  But how did the first man get here, and even if you say he evolved from an ape, how did he get here?  If you want to be scientific, then is it not true that life can only come from life?  Someone or something had to have caused the first life to exist.

Many religions have their own versions of a creation story that may explain how this came to pass.  I see no reason why an education geared toward open-mindedness should not allow more than one theory to be "taught", or at least mentioned in the classroom.  If you decide a god had nothing to do with it, so be it, and if another decides that this god or gods had something to do with it, so be it.  My point is that no one can know, so your guess is as good as mine.  I would not favor any specific religion being taught, but I do wish educators would have the decency to admit that they too can't know for certain, and to allow open discussion on the issue without dismissing "theist" views as nonsense.

At various points, could not science "prove" that the universe revolved around the (our) sun?  Or that the world was flat?  How can anyone think that we know everything there is to know right now?  There is more in heaven and earth than is dreamt of in your philosophy.

  12. Why not? We already teach the religion of atheism.

  13. i have an idea lets teach no religion just God's word

  14. We should not be teaching any religion outside of the World Religion elective class offered in many high schools. PERIOD.

  15. Teach all of the major ones. Many of them are the same when it comes to the beginning of the world (ex: Muslims and Christians both believe that God created the world)

  16. I think it'd be fair to teach it if it were taught along side all other major religions were taught as well. (maybe set a minimum amount of people who believe in this religion requirement). As long as it isn't taught in science, and being religion in government funded schools, it should remain optional and only those who want to take it should.

  17. All the science that would be taught, which is a lot is found in the first five books of The Bible. Teachers would have to be trained on how to interpret the science out of The Bible in order to come up with a lesson plan. I am ready to teach those who are interested.

  18. All of them. And they should be awarded a diploma at the end for confusion and contradiction. I'm sure it would look nice on any neutral colored wall.

  19. Oh don't you know. They only care about teaching Christianity in schools not those other 'evil' religions. I do want to say that not all of them are like that, but just the crazy ones

    It's so stupid

If you want creationism in schools,go to a freaking private school. I don't want everyone's tax dollars paying for some stupid theory based on NO proof whatsoever to be taugh in a public secular school.

At least evolution is still in progress, and scientists are finding more and more ways to develop the theory whereas creationism has just stood still. Evolution has proof

  20. Christian of course because it is the only correct one and besides our Country was founded by Christians, for Christians.
