  1. A brand new, Brand name surfboard could cost as much as $700. Some good brands are: T. Patterson, Lost, Channel Islands, Al Merrick, Doc Surfboards, Harbour, Hobie. If you don't want to spend a bunch of money i suggest looking on ebay. That is where i buy most of my boards.

Check out my website for additional surfing information at http://www.thesurfboardman.com/

  2. i buy custom ones that fit me so mine are a cr*pload more expensive

  3. You should be asking that question in a surf shop, not on-line. Do you already surf? How old are you? Where do you surf? These are all questions that are important in answering what you are asking. I have been surfing since '66, and I have owned dozens of boards (new boards, custom made boards, used boards) and I have bought boards for my son and son-in-law.

Go to a good local surf shop, where the professionals there will help you find a board that fits your body size, skill level and local breaks.

If you haven't surfed yet, lessons are the best way to go, unless you have lots of pals who surf who can teach you. Once you learn, and have mastered the basics, you have plenty of time to think about buying a board.

Be careful of what you read here on line. There are lots of really well meaning young folks who have neat answers about surfing, but at almost 56, I tend to classify anyone under 25 as a kid. After I found this site, I figured that I could answer a few questions, and spread the 'good news' of surfing. After you learn to swim and master the ocean, get your REAL advice from a surf shop, where industry professionals earn their rent money selling surfboards. However, if they think you are just a 'kook' tourist out to rent a board, you won't necessarily get the best attention.

There are dozens of good, high quality big name surfboards manufacturers, and hundreds of good local shapers who build boards that are very well suited to the waves in the area where the produce their boards.

My last four boards (three 'off the shelf' and one custom made) all cost around $700.00 ( a Little more, or a little less). Go to a surf shop, and invest your money wisely. And don't listen to too much of what people tell you on line, the industry professionals work in surf shops. Whatever you do (especially as an inexperienced surfer) don't waste your time buying a surfboard on E-bay, Craigslist or some other goofy web site.

Junk surfboards mass produced in China. "popout" However, they can be an economical 'starter' board for a new surfer.http://bp3.blogger.com/_hPACOtZKKko/RkST...
