For an essay, Why is 'Gothic' popular still?

'Gothic' in literature, fashion, architecture...just modern culture, in general, why its still used and popular. Any links that explain more would be much appreciated! Thanks guys :)

i think that gothic is still popular beacuse people feel the need to rebel and thats how i think teens and people these days are doing it. by taking on the gothic persona.
