For any travel genious... from Melbourne to Minnesota for under 1500$?

Well, my friend is coming here from AUS ..up to minnesota in august..what day? I am not sure. All the flights I have found with tax included are 2000 and up..I really really really want to find one for 1500 or less if that is possible.. taxes included. Is there any way to find this? flexible dates? flexible destinations and arrivals? Anything to bring the price down a bit. Any suggestions ?? 10 pts best answer

A colleague today told me that Qantas has announced a special of $400 one way from Sydney and Melbourne to west coast USA as part of their launch of the A380. Don't know more details than this, but it may be something your friend can look into.

on american airlines i cant even find one in the $2,000 range!! flights are soo high these days!! just go to a travel agency, tehy give you the best deals!

Good luck.  They're around $1,900 or so.  But I recently found tix West US to Bali for $1,200.  Still, that's quite a bit off.  Start with Kayak.com since it's a basic search.  Try anything Qantas since they're Aussie & large.  They can afford (& need) to swing deals.  If you can't find help here talk to a travel agent.

Wow.  i just did a very basic Kayak.com search & they were around $2,800 or so!  Your friend should look into trying to get a cheap ride to Sydney & fly from there.  Probably Sydney to Los Angeles or Denver or a big hub...the ideas is to try for cheaper flights on major airlines that fly on busy routes.  Then a flight from there to Minn.
