Question:

For anyone creative: What can I do with my pictures to decorate my dorm?

I have a ton of pictures of my boyfriend and me that I would like to put in my dorm. I really want it to look creative and be something besides just putting them on a cork board or taping them to the wall. I want it to be creative and with black & white zebra print, or hot pink which is me and my roommates room. It feels so boring in there. I want to make it a little different. Any ideas?

  1. You can turn them black and white and blow them up on to a canvas. Also go to HGTV.com for good ideas.

  2. you could buy some of the new clothespins - they are in all sorts of bright colors and you could use those to pin your pics to a line strung along the wall - that way you can change them whenever the mood strikes you and it won't cost you an arm and a leg!

  3. Get the pictures framed.  put them in their own frames and just put them in no order on the wall, your desk or night stand.  otherwise maybe get some collage frames that hold multiple pictures and hang them that way.

  4. i'm actually starting a project of pictures of my pets, pictures of my nieces and nephews, and pictures of nature that my husband and i have taken on different outings.  for our pets, we got one of the long frames at ikea that has the mat cut for 5 pictures.  for my nieces and nephews, i have close up pictures of their faces that i am converting to black and white.  i'm using simple black frames all of the same size for them, but i am using a colorful wrapping paper or scrapbook paper as the mat around the photo - each of those will be individual pictures that i am going to hang in a cluster.  our nature photographs are going to be converted to sepia and hung in a pattern covering 3 ft x 5 ft of wall space in different sized frames with a plain cream colored mat.

you could do any of those projects with your pictures very easily.  for the mat you could use a zebra printed paper with a hot pink inlay or vice-versa.  target, walmart, and ikea each have a nice variety of frame options at affordable prices.  you could skip the frame all together and use the paper as a backdrop to mount your pictures to.  don't be afraid to try anything.

good luck, i'm sure whatever you do will turn out fine!

  5. Get some old vases or bottles and glue then in or on them so they move!

get copies of some of them and put them in the bottle all crunched up!

HAve a little scrap book laying out for anyone one to read!

  6. For a graduation gift, I made a friend a personalized cork board. With fabric and paint and colorful ribbon I made it customized for her and her tastes. That could be something to do for your room to display the photos of you and your boyfriend.
