For anyone in the police area or law enforcement?

I was wondering, I have a bunch of friends who do drugs, and drink and smoke at school and etc. which I do not doany of those things, but I was recently told that I need to get better friends, because if I hung around kids that did bad things I would not get a chance at becoming a police officer after I finish high school. So please can you tell me your thought and opinions on this matter. Thanks.

If you want to be a police officer, why would you hang around bad influences? Just a matter of time until you give in or they do something illegal and your just being present can be constituted as being a participant.

The truth is hanging around these guys and not doing what they do represents the character that law enforcement officers possess.  

We constantly recruit those that know the psyche of the bad and good people and can relate to them. That is the best officer, one well socialized, and who can relate to all persons not just the good.  

So, just keep not doing the bad things and enjoying their good qualities.  Just because they do drugs does not mean their personalities are junk.  

I think you have a good future ahead of you since you are questioning your own morality.

The cop was right you will not have any Friends if you become a cop. As you can see on here the only friends cops has is another cop.

My background investigation was extensive, and included the detectives speaking to teachers at my High School and college. What do you think your teachers will say about you, and your choice of friends?

It is also very easy to find yourself in "bad" situations when associating with sketchy people. And once that happens your chances of becoming a police officer will be zero.
