My mother is 3/4 German and my dad is half, what does that make me?

(In case you need to know)

I also have a little Irish(Mom is 1/4), Cherokee(Dad's side), Welsh(Dad), Danish(Dad), Swedish(Mom) and French(Dad) blood in me, but it is not very much.

  1. You would be five eighths German. A simple way of calculating your ancestral percentages is to create a small genealogical chart with yourself as the base as shown below.

    M   F    M    F    M    F    M    F

        M          F           M          F

                M                     F

                          You

Since you stated that you father is half German, we will start with his branch. The German ancestors will be lower cased.

    m    f    M    F    M    F    M    F

        m         F           M           F

              M                        F

                           You

As you can see, one parent of your father is full-blooded German, meaning two of your great-grandparents must be full-Blooded German. Now your mother's branch.

    m    f    M    F    m    f    m    F

        m         F           m         F

               M                      F

                         You

Looking back three generations at your eight great-grandparents, you can calculate your percentage. Of your eight great-granparents, five were German, meaning that you are five-eighths German.

  2. Multiply your parents' by half, 3/8 and 1/4, and add them together, 5/8.  So you should be 5/8 German if this is all correct information.  PS I hope your moms' are approximations because they surpass 100% technically.

Also 1/8 Irish; Cherokee (half of whatever your dad is), Welsh, Danish, French (half of your dad's) and swedish (half of your mom's percent)
