  1. my  husband is in jail and he really looks forward to getting mail from me. It's the little things that matter and getting up to date pictures of the kids is great.

  2. i have never been in prison, but i know alot of peopole that have. From what they have told me they love to get letters and they dont really care who. and if you dont have anyone to right your homie has somone that you can right to. its funny cause my freinds dad gave her address to a guy that he met in prison and then they started to write back in forth to eachother and she would send him money and stuff all the time and then when he got out he didnt want anything to do with her. lol.... funny and sad at the same time.

  3. Possum, yes, they do need mail.  Once a month is good, once a week is great, every other day or so will put him on top of the world.  Keep in mind though, regardless of what smaller minded responders have said, when he writes back, he is currently stripped to the bone emotionally, whether or not he wants to admit it.  What you get now, may not equate well to what you get when he gets out and his defenses go back up.  Can't really explain it better than that.  He is reminded of the outside every day whether or not he receives mail, actually NOT receiving mail makes it worse.  Then the regrets set in.  And, it is never boring.  I actually used to get play by play accounts of "Dancing With the Stars," a show I absolutely hate, but loved the letters.  Still have them.

I suggest you take what the "8 year" veteran of corrections service wrote with a grain of salt.  I could go on for pages about his type, but what would be the point?  Has he already demonstrated the smallness of his mind?

    Hope I answered your question.

  4. Ugh, NO!  They don't need mail.  Mail is a good way for inmates to stay in contact with family and does help with their morale but they don't need IT.  Definitely do not write to other inmates except your family.  They exploit you for money and give you sad sob stories about how they need money.  Well, they also gave the same story to 10 other people.  They are crooks and conned people before they got incarcerated (remember they are not in jail because they are innocent) and they still con people while in there.  By the way "homies" do not give things away for free in prison they sell it.  Nothing is for free and most likely the person you are talking to is in for a sexual crime such as rape or child molestation.  If your family member is giving out your address then they sold you!!!  Don't fall for their bs and send money.   And watch out for family members requesting you to send money to someone else.  Mostly like if that happens then they are being extorted and its a crime to contribute.  Contact the warden or the Safe Prisons Coordinator.

Point is, unless its immediate family don't talk to people in prison.  They will use and abuse you and not think twice about it!!!
