Do you regret it? Do you like it? Have you failed a lot? Because I'm so excited about finally choosing what I want to do with my life but my mother keeps telling me that I'm gonna fail..

  1. I'm not going to prove your mom wrong. I will submit that she could have been more encouraging. There are some nice things about the food industry in general - and becoming a chef in particular. We spend most of our time gathering (earning), preparing, eating, cleaning up after, or digesting food. We live for food. A chef has food around them nearly all the time - and rarely starves to death. :)

Failure is nothing to be feared. We all occasionally fail. It is how we deal with setbacks that make or break our stride. We can fail and still be successful.

The story of Edison’s light bulb says he failed 1000 times before having success.  When asked about it, Edison allegedly said, “I have not failed 1,000 times. I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways to NOT make a light bulb.”

If you want it - Go for It!

  2. There have been many successful chefs. It is a harder career to advance in as it takes more time but it pays well on the way. You shouldn't let her say what is good for you or not. It is your life and you have the chance to do whatever you want. just remember that becoming a good cook takes dedications and never lose sight of your dream.
