For anyone who has read "The Kite Runner", what did you think of it?

Is it one of the best books you have read? Is it one of the saddest? Did you think the plot was original? Why did you read it in the first place?

  1. I read it because my sister gave me a copy for my birthday. I loved it, and yes, I did think it was sad. By the end I was practically bawling. Amir and Hassan are very moving characters. The plot was original, in my opinion. I've not read any other books remotely like The Kite Runner. It's a very moving book.


  2. thought it was brill. it made me cry i read because my sister works in a bookshop and she told me to read it saying it will be one of the best books you will ever read and she was right.

I read it because someone recommended it to me.  I was interested in it because I like books about cultures other than my own - the learning experience is greater.  I thought it was an excellent book, one of the best I have read in a while.  While it was sad, it also led to redemption and forgiveness.  Yes, I thought the plot was original in terms of the details, but the themes of betrayal, deception, suffering, sin, discrimination, violence, family, homeland are all common themes in good literature.
