Question:

For applying passport under tatkal scheme, who is authorised to give verification certificate?

It is mentioned in the passport application that any central govt.officers in the pay scale 12000 and above is competent to sign. But some travel agents state that only signature got from IAS/IPS officers is acceptable by passport offices. Whether it is true? kindly give your feedbacks at the earliest.

    You will have to meet  Passport Officer on any working day between 10 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. and show the documents regarding the urgency alongwith a verification certificate (Specimen Annexure ‘G’) signed by any of the following officers on their official stationery:

    District Superintendent of Police / Senior Superintendent of Police / range DIG / IGP / DGP   of  area of residence of applicant.

    Deputy Secretary / Director / Joint Secretary / Additional Secretary / Special Secretary / Secretary / Cabinet Secretary to Government of India.

    Joint Secretary / Additional Secretary / Special Secretary / Chief Secretary to State Government.

    Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / District Magistrate of district of residence of applicant.

    Colonel and above of Indian Army or equivalent ranks in Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.

    General Manager and above of Public Sector Undertakings
