  1. Only if you are joining the Air Force. I'm a private pilot and never went to college.

  2. In India, you dont need a degree for being a pilot. 10 + 2 would suffice. You should be reasonably proficient in maths and a little aptitude in physics would be of help.

  3. You must finish your high school!!!---Must of the airlines company  they don't care about your college if u pass the medical examination for audition and visual which is not easy.. and the Commercial Pilot Licence(CPL) and Airline Transport Licence(ATPL)..I'm 15 my dream to become a pilot was since i was in kinder garden for my bright future, the  career I would like to do is to be an airline pilot wich it cost u a lot of money but u should finish ur aviation college to be sure that everything is ok..But if you are in Canada join Royal Canadian Air Cadets ..Good luck!!!

  4. why is everyone trying to make smart answers?

The answer is much more simple, you just need to be good at maths geography and also have good eyesight hearing and be in a good shape thats all.

  5. Just retired after forty years as a pilot. Never went past HS.

  6. No not necessary.

the minimum requirement to become a pilot is +2 with Physics chemistry and math as your subjects.

  7. spartan college, you will find it interesting

                                                                  good luck

  8. Education is always helpful, especially related to your field in the short and the long run, however Ray told you regarding the needs for commercial versus Air force pilots

  9. For a military pilot, a 4 year degree is mandatory.  For major commercial airlines, a degree is preferred and will give you an advantage over candidates without degrees, but not technically required.  For all other flying, commercial or private, no degree is required.  As with most things in life, there are exceptions to everything.  But overall this answer is 99.99% applicable.

  10. There are wonderful schools to go to that have aviation programs. UND in Phoenix and Grand forks, ND and Embry-Riddle are a few. I fly with pilots who graduated from both schools and they were very happy with the schooling they received. Their education is definitely a plus and will be of value in many ways. Especially if you loose you medical or want to get into management. That said college is not required for general, corporate, or commercial aviation. I have flown with college graduates in the past who should be in another line of work, but that can be said of any profession. The career time line is similar to the medical field. It takes the average student pilot 8 to 10 years to become Captain on a corporate jet. (8 years @ 300 hours a year to get 2500 to 3000 hrs for charter for example). You can fly and go to college at the same time which is what I would recommend. You build your time instructing after you obtain you Flight Instructor certificate while finishing school. So if you have the time and interest, go to an aviation school.

  11. Are you in the USA or the UK? (or otherwise)?

In the UK a degree is by no means mandatory, although some integrated ATPL courses now offer a degree alongside.

If you want a full explanation, my website is: http://www.flyfortheairlines.com - there is a section or two on there about this. Airlines generally look for aptitude when it comes to integrated courses, and will not want more than A-Levels when it comes to modular courses or sponsorhips.

    Hope this helps!
