  1. What are you trying to accomplish?

I'm in agreement with Donflectwhatever.  What are you trying to do?  If you are trying to make an electric bike, there are kits available, although some are not very reliable.  The best (and most expensive) is Heinzmann, or something like that.  I have a very reliable Giant Lite, expensive and not sold in the US any more.
