For cold-weather golfers: Do you play better after a few months off?

For some reason, I always seem to play better after a few months off. By the time the end of the season rolls around (which is usually October or November for me in Michigan), I'm exhausted physically because I try to golf at least once a week. I usually try to have at least 3 days rest between rounds.

I benefit from the time off, and play like the "offseason" never even happened. I seem to play as good as the previous season, getting better as the new season goes.

  1. get yourself a simulator and play year round

  2. Some old habits and muscle memories disapear during the break. I only need a few holes. Having 'used to be' good, I lose interest early in rounds these days.

  3. When I played a lot, a few months off did seem to help.

  4. I'm always working on some part of my game year round to stay active.  I do a lot of short game work in the cold weather months.  I normally play once a week for the most part.  Sometimes I get the chance to play more often.

  5. Almost always. The winter months are especially good for watcging the golf channel and the PGA pro's swing correctly and help us play well. I've just returned from a week in FL and shot 79/76/80 and I'm a 6. Always helps.

  6. No, I lose my tempo after not practicing for a week. So no, I hate a few months off.
