  1. I wouldn't recommend wearing them for really really long races but races like the 5 k is awesome

It takes off around 7secs/mile on grassy courses and how long the course is

but just like they said: It depends on the course. You have to decide if there is too much cement gravel...etc on the course. But even if there is the only thing that happens is your metal spike will wear down and you can just buy new ones, they only cost like 10cents each so it's not a big deal

  2. In California we are not allowed to wear Spikes at Cross Country races. it is a CIF sanctioned rule.

however; i have a friend from new york that informed taht all his races over there they are allowed to wear spikes.

-then again all there courses are grass and dirt.

  3. youre supposed to because if you dont you might slip.  my team is required to wear them.

  4. yeah...it depends on terrain though. If you are running on a golf course definetly wear them. But if it's rocky or on pavement then no! Break them in a little before you race in them or else your calves will get really tight!

  5. It depends on the course.

If you are running on grass and not going down a paved road then you should wear spikes.

There are soft spikes that are almost as good as metal spikes and can be worn on all surfaces.

The next best thing after spikes would be racing flats.

  6. depends on the course. if its grass, gravel, or dirt you should def. wear spikes, but if its on pavement wear racing flats or dont put in the spikes.
