You need to clear or disable Auto Complete. This saves all previous searches in your search bar. Here's how to fix the problem:

For Internet Explorer: Click on Tools. Then Internet Options. Click on Content and then Auto Complete. Then click on Clear Forms. This will erase your search history. If you don't want things showing up again in your search history then deselect the Auto Complete options at the top. Be sure to select apply or ok at the bottom.

why would you want to delete the search list? Just go to the history icon at the top, which will open up a menu on the left. Then open up the day you want to delete from, right click over the pages to delete and select delete. Im confused as to why you want to do this though?

If I'm understanding your question correctly...

Go to the top of the IE page & click on Tools, then click on Internet Options.  Click on Delete Cookies, Delete Files & Clear History.  Then click on the Content tab & click on AutoComplete.  Click on Clear Forms & Clear Passwords.

This will erase everything in your webaddress drop-down, everything you've ever searched for & clear all your log-ins & passwords (so make sure you remember what they are, because you'll have to login to everything again).
