I have heard that some shots don't need repeated yearly. Is this one of them.

  1. NO.

If your dog received all his puppy shots, this should provide lifetime immunity.  If in doubt, you should do a simple blood test called a titer test to see if he still has the antibodies from his puppy shots rather than vaccinating your dog repeatedly.  Yearly shots can have lots of adverse reactions including but not limited to certain types of tumors and cancers as well as immune mediated hemolytic anemia which is fatal.

Please find a vet, such as a holistic one, that agrees with the philosophy of not giving annual shots.

  2. there is a huge debate on this as vaccines are the lively hood of a lot of clinics/hospitals. Do a search and you will see the latest research showing that it can be dangerous to vaccinate yearly.

  3. Where I live the first shot is required one year after completing the puppy series and then every three years thereafter.  The trend is away from annual vaccination after the first year with most vets.

  4. If you have a younger dog I think it is very important that they get this yearly....just like a child they have to get this vaccine to build up an immunity to it as an adult.

  5. I did that for the first two years of my dog but never gave him anymore after. All he got now is rabies shot which is every 3 years.
