What are the most important skills you need to know?

Are you required to go to all the tournaments?

How far away and how long do they usually last for 13/14 year olds?

I prefer answers from people who have previously done downstate and i looked on the website can't fiond these answers.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Clubs usually take 4-5 months to complete a season, depending on how far your team can go. They travel a lot, and if you can reach Junior Olympic you will travel further, but that is well worth it (only if your team can reach that level, which speaks the excitement). You have to be committed to all tournaments once you get thru tryout.

Your coach would be the one who decides which skill set is more important for you (say you are not a good setter but you are tall, and you are a good hitter and blocker). You don't have to be "everything", but you need to be good with passing, serving, and digging at least.

You need to be a team player, not me-first, and show your dedication to the sports (no social while on the court or during practice, no reservation - 110% effort).

You should ask your coach who is offering the clinic and tryout for more and "final" details.

  2. I dont know what a down state volleyball club is but I've done KJ vball club and this year NW club... and here are the basic things you need to know about clubs...

-The most important skills you need to know are everything about the position youre trying out for.

-Yes you are required to go to all the tournaments of course... even if youre not playing you still have to be a good team mate and cheer your team on. If you have a family emergency or appointment that cant wait... talk to your coach and tell them a week to or a few days prior to the tournament. Make sure you have a note just in case.

-It depends if youre a regional player or if youre national. If you play national you'll most likely be playing at different states. If youre a regional player then you'll be playing in your own state. The farthest you can go, i have no clue because my club is different. Ask your club coach when you try out. They usually last idk... an hour or two. It depends if you win your games.. Many teams challenge each other until they've been eliminated from the tourney... Once the've been eliminated the last two standing teams will re match each other for 1st place.
