  1. I'm with Redial, I smell a howrse question!!!

    LOL! You Have Got To Be Kidding-- Great answer!!

    Most of the questions you asked can vary greatly depending on where you're from and the individual horse. There are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers here...

    Go cnsdubie!!!

  2. i recognise a Howrse question in disguise....you can't fool me

  3. i swear this question is from howrse???!

  4. 1- 1/2 lb per 100 lbs of body weight

    2- 12x12

    3- frog, the wall

  5. 1. the amount of grain fed should be no more than .5%-1% of the horse's body weight.

    2. 10x10 to 12x12

    3. I don't know the answer to this one, but like I said, I'm always learning.. I will just have to look this one up.

  6. I know more about cats.

  7. Question 1, horses don't need grain. If you decide to feed it, the grain type would decide how much of it to feed per lb of body weight depending on the source of the energy provided. High fat feeds typically require less lb/lb of body weight ratio than their high starch counterparts. The ratio would also depend on the amount of forage in the diet, usage of the horse, and the metabolic processes of the horse. So to answer your question there is NO set amount of grain to be fed to horses, there are so many variables here there is no one answer..

    Question 2)There are two standard average size horse stalls, 10x10 and 12 x12, however horses are most comfortable when allowed to roam as free as possible, they were not designed to stand in small spaces all day long.

    Question 3, ok now you are really showing that you are a novice because the WHOLE hoof to some extent absorbs something whether its fluid or compression since you didn't state which I will address fluid since the whole hoof absorbs fluid to some point. A product called hoof alive demonstrated that the wall, sole and frog are all capable of "absorbing", it just depends on what the material is that is being applied. Most products do not make it below the sole corium or the moisture barrier. While the frog is generally thought to be the most porous, the coronet band is standardly thought to be the best place to apply hoof protectants; not because its more absorbant but because it is the first new keratin material to grow and therefore since the hoof grows top down, hoof protectants have the best chance for doing good there. Because of the research I have read that whole hoof "breathes" I cover the whole hoof with hoof alive and it readily soaks it up.

    P.S. You don't make me feel stupid but you may want to do more research on your questions before you ask them.

    ~~~BM you are wrong with all your answers, and only half right on question 2, please go back to researching as the coronet band is no longer believed to be a "bacterial trap" nor is it considered anymore absorbent than the rest of the hoof. That information is very dated (I have an old encyclopedia of the horse from the 70;s that lists those silly answers) as is your guidance on grain feeding time to get up to speed with current research.~~~
  8. I know what horses look like. Does that count?
    Not trying to insult you either, but you may need to focus on book smarts also. Your spelling is atrocious.
  9. 1.A horse should only be fed 1% of their body weight in hay and with grain or concentrate i think it is 14%
    2.12 x 12 is the normal sized stall for a regular sized horse.
    3.The outside part absorbs stuff ( like hoof oil ) and i know the frog absorbs something ( not sure what ) I know the hoof wall doesn't absorb anything.
  10. 4-5
    1.um.um.um.i dont do well in maths.
    2. *same as above*
    3. OOOH I KNOW THIS ONE!! THE FROG!! and then i think the wall.
    im 4to5 in an easy quiz!!
  11. I am so horse smart that the 6 REAL hair covered, eating, pooping treat hounds that greet me at the gate every evening are slick, thriving and happy.
    That is the real test...I've been passing it for many years.
