i like deep purple, ac/dc, the doors, led zeppelin, beatles, bowie etc.

what I'm asking is what do you think of new bands copying the classic rock sound?

like wolfmother , white stripes,

do you think "they're not as good as their influences" or do you think its a good thing?

tell me what modern bands you're into lately?

  1. Bands will always go back to the past for "new" sounds, and even the "classic" bands ripped off everybody blind who came before them, so you shouldn't feel too sorry for them (they'd be the first to admit it too).

There are a lot of good new bands, but my money's always on 60/70s and 80s bands.

Like Rush, Ted Nugent, Blue Oyster Cult, Queen, Thin Lizzy, UFO, Scorpions, Sabbath, Elton John...

  2. 40 years ago, people had the same questions about Cream, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix copying the "classic blues sound".

How'd that work out for them?

  3. I think it's a great thing. I hate both bands you used as examples, but I do think someone should carry on the old rock n roll sounds.

    Modern bands I'm into-

    The Bravery

    Army Of Me

    Finger Eleven

Radiohead's not so modern but I'm always into them.

  4. I welcome them All w/ wide open arms! More please!

  5. they're not really "copying" so much as being influenced by...everybody tends to sound quite a bit like their influences...

it would be nice if they took the music further or mixed it up a bit but its all good to me either way...

i would rather have a good classic-rock-knock-off than some incredibly unique-yet-oh-so-bad/forgettable band trying to take music into the future...

  6. dude thats awesome

i like anything old like that and like....

    rush and mcr and stuff....
