  3. Eggbutt snaffle and D-ring happy mouth snaffle

ADD:  Really?  A thumbs down for using snaffles?

  4. CC-

    D-ring snaffle.

  5. Apache,,

2 Piece snaffle with a sweet bead (Bead of copper or sweet iron) loose fit in the middle for her to play with

  6. Halter and lead rope for just walking around the property.

For riding, I use a french link because it seems to be one of the only bits that my horse will take without chewing endlessly on it.

Trails  -- either my french link or a hackamore. But I use my french link more often than not.

  7. 2 i ride bitless...My youngens i use a full cheek snaffle...I keep an assortment of bits for different purposes, but mainly i ride bitless...

  8. Hollywood

Halter and lead rope- for trails, or bareback

6" broken curb (tom thumb)- for ranch sorting

WE have 11 horses all use different bits for different stuff...  Hollywood is my horse and that is what I ride him in.

  9. I ride my gaming horse in a plain twisted snaffle. For my pleasure horse, I usually use a Myler mullen mouth curb bit, although when I need to do some tuning up on him, I will use a plain snaffle or a twisted snaffle. On my trail horse, I use a smooth snaffle. All of my bits are sweet iron. For english, I use a Kimberwick.

  10. i ride my quarter horse gelding in an aluminum copper correction bit. because i show on him and he tends to b hyper. but i have very light hands.

and i ride my quarter horse draft gelding in a western curb shank bit. he is really strong headed but they both also work well in a thick copper snaffle bit wen their just trail riden.

  11. I use a simple O-ring or D-ring snaffle or my bosal for my guy. he came off the track so I brought him back to a bosal to re-educate him as a pleasure horse. He used to be extremely hard-mouthed, now he rides nicely in a bit as well.

He also rides really well in just a simple halter, actually better than anything in that!

  12. Tanka is currently in a full cheek snaffle with copper rollers.  My controls and his response to the bit are great, but lately he's been a tad sour at the "bit in the mouth" stage while bridling. ~:[

So, I am looking for with a french-mouth full cheek in a sweet iron or I may possibly try a bitless bridle.

  13. I ride all my horses in a simple, round snaffle (on barrels) or a loose chain bit with a shank (while working cows or roping).

  14. Beau is in a hunter D happy mouth snaffle for most riding

and a rubber tom thumb pelham for shows/cross country.

i ride english, by the way

  15. My preference has always been an egg but snaffle since they tend to be mild but some horses need a bit that is a little  stronger but I like snaffles anyways.

  16. Just in hackamores right now.  Doing nothing but trailriding.  The old girl has a rubber noseband...and the idiot gelding has a braided rawhide one...

Kevin...looks like the "Tom Thumb" police 'cited' you!!  Some here can't stand the thought of someone using a tom thumb.

  17. Falco: Waterford mouthed continental snaffle

    Harvey:Ported 2 slot Kimblewick

Jointed continental snaffle ( depends what we're doing)

Holly: ( daughter's loan horse ) French link snaffle

Min (the pony) Jointed continental snaffle

English hackamore ( depends who's riding him)

  18. Right now on my boy Rebel I use a tom thumb,  bubt Ima change back to his old, which I have no clue actually what it is, its like a tom thumb only it has roller pieces and copper pieces, and a longer shank, I am changin back to that b/c in the tom thumb to avoid contact he stargazez, and he didn't do that in his old bit.

  19. I have a french-link snaffle on my horse, Braith, atm. She's unbroken as yet, but when I'm riding her I hope to have her in a hackamore as I definately prefer them.

I ride my friends horse, Guinness, and he has a full cheek single jointed snaffle. I don't think it suits him, but it's not my choice unfortunately.

  20. Same bit all the time for Girlfriend. Nice Garcia sweet iron tom thumb with a 4'' shank.

Edit-Yeah Bunny. Looks like it. But hey if it worked for my grandfather(who the bit was made for) and he died at 92 back in 68. I think its good enough for me. Perelli doesn't know half as much as grand dad knew. He was a true Vaquero, infact Disney's movie "last of the vaqueros"(documernty) had my grandfather in it the day he died. Working cattle.

  21. Hey , Well I use a 3 link bit it can not damage there mouth and its great for the older horses . anyway better go and feed rug and stable my horses anyway thanks c ya

  22. i use a

Brenda Imus Comfort bit for all my walkers

  23. I use a copper D-Ring snaffle and a Baucher at shows.  She tends to root when she gets excited and the baucher just gives that bit of an extra lift without putting callouses on my hands.

  24. Freddie (TB, hunter, gelding) has 2 bits that I switch between a simple copper d-ring and a 3-ring French Link Elevator (when he is REALLY being strong and doesn't feel like stopping)

  25. I just use a training snaffle.

    :]

    Cheers

    ~Eve

  26. On my Appendix, Wrangler, I use:

I full cheek snaffle for training, trails, barrels and any other event I can use a snaffle in. And for pleasure I use a plain shanked snaffle. I just bought a Dee ring snaffle with a jointed low port.

On my solid Paint, Chisel, I use:

Regular mouthpeice Wonder Bit. For games or times when he gets a little more hyper, etc. I put it on the bottom (shank) ring, and on trails or when he's calm I put it on the snaffle ring. I usually run him in a rope nose hackamore, because he responds better to the pressure on his nose, but I also have a hack/lifesaver mouthpeice combo which I haven't used on him.

I occasionally do english with both of my horses and then I use a copper mouth egg butt snaffle, a loose ring snaffle or my new Dee ring.
