i think irctc.com is the best site, you just need to make ur free account, sign in and search, try booking a ticket and u'll get every detail starting from the cost of the ticket to the availability.

you, don't get ur seat numbers though, bt ur tickets get confirmed, u get ur seat numbers on the station itself.
