For girls, how fancy should we dress and do our hair for the captain's formal night?

I will be going on the carnival elation cruise in less than 2 weeks and I would like some tips from other girls to see how I should dress for this vacation.

Because I've been on disney cruises, but this 1 is carnaval.

well i just got off carnival like 2 months ago.

it really varies.

some people have the nerve to come in jeans.

others wear dresses that come from BCBG.

it really depends.

if your in high school, wear your last formal dress you wore to a dance.

i wore my prom one and that's what most teen girls do on the ship.

as for your hair...i wore mine straight and flat ironed. some curl theirs and some even get it done in an up-do in the salon.  oh and whatever you do...don't forget to pack your heels, you will look kinda funny in a prom dress and flip flops lol.

The other answers are right on. You really dont need to go overboard, unless you want to. I wouldnt show up in jeans, however. I would say something like what you would wear to prom would be nice.

It is fun to get dressed up fancy and do your hair though. Unless its something you really dont like doing. Its kinda nice to see everyone so dressed up for dinner.

Carnival is very similar to Disney.

I'm a teenager girl, what I wear for a homecoming dance at my high school is something like what I would wear to the formal night. Some people wear cocktail dresses and you don't have to go that fancy. Others just wear a sundress, and that's fine too. they just want you to look nice, you don't have to go way overboard. With your hair, a lot of girls just leave it down, not a lot go overboard, it's really personal preference. What you saw on Disney is basically what you're going to see on carnival. some go way overboard and other's dont. You don't even have to wear heels, flats are fine.
