Question:

For girls: whats the big deal about periods?

i'll start off by saying i am a dude. i know the basics of periods (that you bleed once every month out of your gash).

but it seems like its made out as such a big thing.

how much blood comes out?

do you feel it coming out - is there an instant where you know you've had it, or do you just look down and go, "oh, theres some blood there"?

does it hurt?

why is it made such a big thing of?

are all those pads and stuff really necessary - is it like peeing yourself?

is the first one you get meant to be some huge occasion or something?

are there times where it can be an inconvenience or does it not affect you?

sorry if these sound like ignorant questions, its just something i don't know about.

thanks.

  1. YES we have pain in many places.

if a girl uses a tampoon then you dont feel the blood. but if a girl wears a pad she can feel when the blood is coming out.

it depends on the girl about how much blood and how long her cycle is.

its made a big deal beacuse it hurts us ones a month and we hate it but then again if girls are havin s*x then thats how girls now if they are pregant or not.

yes pads and tampoons are necessary i mean if we didnt use them then their will be a big mess and it would just be sick...

some girls make a big deal about their first period cuz it means their becomin a woman..

ohhh it can be a big inconvenience like i know this is personal but you asked so her goes... im 17 and i just started usin tampoons cuz i wanted to go to the beach and their easier to swim with  and well i had to teach my self to use them... which sucks beacuse that come with pain. and then again when a girl and her boyfriend go out and then at the end of the night want to do something and well she cant..

so i answered this and its really long lol.. so how old are you?

  2. Ok there can be lots of blood. Look at a tampon and imagine filling that up with blood like 5 to 10 times in 24 hours, maybe less when its not heavy. Normally I can feel when I get my period, you just know, and lo annd behold when you go t o the bathroom your bleeding. God forbid you dont have a pad or a tampon cuz then your stuck stuffing your undies with TP until you can get home. If you use a pad its totally gross because your covered in blood and have to wipe like 30 times to get it all off only to have to do that again when you chnage your pad next time. Your exhaused and just want a nap. Your bloated and NOTHING fits right, and you have cramps that feel like someone left a knife in your uterus. Last but not least you do it every three weeks, and then have it for a week. Its disgusting and obnoxious. As a guy you cant imagine how much it sucks and is inconvienient. Having an IUD is the best things ever! I hardly get my period now and have only a little spotting. I still get cramps but they are manageable. Every woman is different but this is a pretty fair description.

  3. Right, I'll try and answer these as best as possible but bare in mind that every girl is different

How much blood comes out is completely dependent on the person, some girls can have really heavy periods, whilst others don't.

Yes we do feel it coming out.

The blood itself coming out isn't painful, but a lot of girls can get painful stomach cramps whilst on there period.

The pads/tampons/etc. aren't fundamentally necessary (I mean thousands of years ago pads and tampons didn't exist). But it's not very hygienic if you don't wear them, plus nobody wants blood-stained underwear, right?

To some girls getting their first period is a big deal, because it shows they're on the road to becoming a woman.

Periods can be inconvenient in the way that it's messy to have s*x whilst your on, so girls generally avoid it. Other than that they don't tend to affect life too badly.

    I hope this helped.

  4. lol i don't think your going to get any nice answers

  5. okay be a little Sensitive about your wanting to understand.

Come on think about it.  If they did not use the pads or tampons, the blood will show up in their clothes and everyone will know they are bleeding.

It's such a big thing because they are the carrier of life for 9 months.

  6. 1. you lose about 2 tablespoons of actual blood, but thats mixed with the entire lining of the womb, mucus and other lovely fluids which means a basicly constant flow for 2-6 days.

    2. you can feel it coming out, its quite an awful feeling. Normally cramps and clenching tell a girl that she is about to come on her period.

    3. it makes you really sensative, and gives some people horrible stomach cramps and others are fine.

    4. if we didnt use pads or tampax, everyones jeans would be dripping blood.

    5. periods are generlly a pain, they affect your hormones and feelings too, as well as making you slow sluggish and generally not in a good mood.

    hope this helped

  7. First of all being a dude you should count your blessings.  Not all women have periods that are heavy but besides the PMS where your b*****s are so sore that you can't even stand to touch them yourself, or the discomfort and pain you may get in your lower back not to mention the cramps during heavy flow, do I need to go on!!!!!  Without those pads and stuff, you would see a lot of women walking around with blood dripping down their legs,.  Good grief!!!!

  8. you sound like a bit of an idiot.

do you really think women want to wear pads if it's unnecessary?

go and google the word menstruation

  9. Well first off, it is a big thing for girls who first get their period because it's a sign that they're growing into young women.

It depends on the girl for how much blood is released. For some it's a very light flow and for other it can be very heavy.

Sometimes we get snuck up on and our periods come without us realising, but for others they can tell because of PMS symptoms such as cramps. However most women make a habit of charting a calendar to have a good idea when that time of the month is coming.

Does it hurt? Well...again that depends on the woman in question. I myself have severe dysmenhorrea meaning I get extremely painful cramps in my lower abdomen during my period. Other women are lucky and have little or no cramps.

It's made such a big thing of because it's such an inconvenience. I mean, do you want to be irritable with painful cramps and blood seeping out of your p***s once a month, every month? I didn't think so.

Pads and tampons are pretty much a necessary commidity for health and cleanliness's sake. It is not like peeing yourself because we ccannot stop the flow of the uterus lining from coming from the v****a. If we didn't have pads and tampons, we'd have blood stains all over our trousers, which no one wants to see.

Most of the time, it's an inconvenience, but after a while most women get into the monthly routine of handling their periods.

    Hope this helped.

  10. I'll make this sound nice, do u think we like wearing pad? Do u think we can actually control it like peeing?! Yes it hurts!, you can't walk without getting cramps, it makes a girl really moody. Yes we do feel it coming out! Other then cramps u can get killer stomachache, hurts like h**l. When a girl have her first period it means that she can get pregnant now. It's like a girl becoming a women or something like that. Hope this is enough info...

  11. Good questions.  And it's nice to hear a BOY wondering about them rather than complaining:

    1) Every girl's flow will be different.  Some have very heavy flows and others have lighter flows.

    2) I can feel it, yes.  Most of the time, girls will know when to expect their period b/c it usually comes about the same time every month (but not always).  There are ocassions where you do look down and think, "c**p!"

    3) The actual bleeding part doesn't hurt.  But there are cramps that accompany the period (it's the uteran wall contracting) and those can be very painful.  Many girls get headaches, breast tenderness, cramps and general soreness of the body.

    4) I don't know who makes it into a big thing...??  I think girls like to use it as a pity card, "We have periods and boys have nothing," and to some extent that is true.  We get stuck w/ all the ucky body stuff (babies, child bearing, periods, etc...)

    5) Um, YES, pads and tampons are necessary.  If we didn't have them, where do you think the blood would go?

    6) It's an important time in a girl's life when she 1st gets her period.  It means she's really turning into a women.  It means she's capable of child bearing and getting pregnant.  I mean, that's a big deal.  Her body is completely changing so wouldn't that be considered relatively important?

    7) There are times when it's not that annoying (toward the end of the period when the flow gets lighter).  But overall, it's pretty annoying, especially for girls who wear pads b/c they can't swim during that time and stuff.  Also, who wants to wonder if through mid-movie they're leaking?  Yes, definitely annoying and inconvenient.

  12. When girls first get it, yea, it is a big deal. It is something that they are not used to and it means that they are a woman. Depending on the woman, about 6-10 tablespoons of blood comes out over the few days that they have it. And yes, you can feel it coming out. It feels like you have just peed yourself. The process of the blood coming out does not hurt, but the pms symptoms do. We get cramps and bloating and headaches and the list goes on. It is uncomfortable. Pads and tampons are defiantly necessary. If we didn't use them, we would have blood all over ourselves. It is seriously like we peed ourselves, but we cannot control it. No, there is no occasion for it. Yes, it is a Major inconvenience. If you do not expect it when it comes, you bleed all over yourself and make a huge mess. I hope this helped.

  13. The amount varies girl to girl. Personally, I get a lot and bleed for 7-8 days.

If you wear pads, yes you feel it. It just feels wet. Some girls get cramps because the uterus is contracting to get all of the extra blood out. You don't feel it if you wear tampons because the tampon is absorbing all the blood before it can come out.

It's a big thing the first time it happens because it means that you have crossed the threashhold into womanhood. After that, it's only a big deal if you don't get it when you're expecting it. If that happens, then you could be pregnant.

Oh yeah that stuff is necessary! If you don't use tampons or pads, then you get all that blood in your panties and it will come through your pants so everyone can see it.

Yes, there are times when it's inconvenient. It is when you want to have s*x, but your partner doesn't because of your period. It's also inconvenient when you overflow your pad or tampon and don't have a back-up.

  14. Hi, Don't listen to the other people making fun of you, I'd be happy to help you, but I won't.  Good bye!  Just kidding!

Depending on if you have a light or heavy period a few table spoons come out.

If it's a heavy period YES, You can feel it ( it kinda feels like you let pee out!).  If it's light, On your bath room break you'll notice it.

The period it self does not hurt, But we do get cramps, ( they feel like really bad gas pains) bloating, headaches, and back aches.

it's not that"big" of a thing, We just make it that way.  Some times it feel like were sick, or to tired to move, so sometimes it does suck.  But You can do the same stuff with or without it.

Yes, Pads/tampons/diva cups are necessary!  If not we would be dirty, stick, and have BIG blood spills on our  pants ( not very attractive).

The first one felt like something special cause I was a "woman", and I got out of a grounding ( I blamed my mouth on PMS!).

It can be an inconvenience if we got to the lake, and I forgot tampons or something like that.  But it's no big deal.

I think I answered them all,  I hope I helped you.

P.S. It last 3-8 days on average!

  15. *rolls eyes*

we bleed for 4 days, we feel like h**l, we cramp, we bloat, we retain water, we dont sleep well, pads aint comfortable, NOTHING is comfortable, we sweat, or we crave sweet food and I mean NOW!!

and on top of allllllll that

WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH MEN ASKING STUPID QUESTIONS!

    *takes a deep breath*

it sux being a woman..and WE have to go thru childbirth!!

    lmao

  16. 1.The amount of blood depends on how heavy your flow is. You don't "gush" blood by any means..usually it's about 1-3 tablespoons every so many hours.

2.At times, yes, you can "feel it come out". And there are times that we just look down and go "Oh, there's some blood there"

3.The period itself doesn't hurt, but the cramps do.

4.It's a big deal because it's a pain in the ****. You get PMS, you get cramps, you have to deal with changing tampons/pads every few hours, you have to plan activities around it.

5.Yes, those pads and stuff are necessary. Would you want to walk around with the crotch of your pants bloody?  =)

6.The first one we get is kind of a big deal. A lot of people think it's the threshold to womanhood. Different cultures celebrate it differently.

    You aren't ignorant...   =)

  17. Number one having a period makes you bloat and fell like c**p. It is a big deal when 7 days out of the month you have to wear a different size in clothing because you are so bloated and the skinny clothes you normally wear do not fit. And if we do squeeze our butts in our normal clothes we are really mean. We cannot tell you how bad a period feels like you cannot tell us how bad it feels to have your nuts hit hard.

  18. how much blood comes out?

-- It varies from woman to woman.  It can be extremely light or very heavy.

do you feel it coming out - is there an instant where you know you've had it, or do you just look down and go, "oh, theres some blood there"?

-- Both.  You're more likely to feel it if it's heavy.  It's similar to the sensation of urine coming out, but you don't feel the pressure of pushing the urine out.  Does that make sense?

    does it hurt?

    - The bleeding itself does not hurt, no.  However, there are a whole host of other symptoms that can.  Menstrual cramps can be bad; it's like having a stomach ache (down in your abdomen, not your stomach) or being constipated ... but all day, every day.

why is it made such a big thing of?

    - Eh, because it means you're "a woman" and can become pregnant.

are all those pads and stuff really necessary - is it like peeing yourself?

-- Yes, absolutely necessary.  Typically, a lot more blood comes out than urine does, so imagine peeing for 7 days straight out of a larger hole.  If you didn't have something down there, it would go everywhere and leave stains.  Very nasty.

is the first one you get meant to be some huge occasion or something?

    - Just as a celebration of womanhood.  To a lot of young girls, it symbolizes the start of puberty and growing up.

are there times where it can be an inconvenience or does it not affect you?

-- It's pretty much always an inconvenience.  Using my 24/7 urination example above, I can't imagine how that wouldn't affect someone, lol.  It's also a catch-22 because a lot of women are more sexually aroused during their periods, but at the same time most men and a lot of women cringe at the thought of having s*x while menstruating.  Plus orgasms can help relieve the horrendous cramping.  A lot of women also become more hormonal (part of the monthly cycle), which leads to all of the PMS jokes.  And there's bloating, food cravings, crying...  No, I'd say it's not fun at all.

  19. Okay,

I'll just answer down the line:

Yes, a significant amount of blood comes out. That's why we need pads and tampons.

Many times you can feel it coming out. Sometimes not, especially your first period.

It doesn't hurt where your bleeding -- you get cramps in your tummy,

    headaches, tiredness, bloating.

We make a big deal because for many women it interferes with our

    normal routine.

    Yes, we need the pads.

The "first period" occassion is that now you can get pregnant!

It is quite often inconvenient! You feel bad, you're moody, you have to

deal with pads or tampons, watch what clothes you wear, and act like nothing is wrong the whole time!

These are not ignorant questions - better to ask than not have good information!

  20. its not a big deal for ``big girls`` but i don`t know why so many young girls make of it such a big deal. it`s nothing, it`s normal.

it comes a lot of blood but it depends on every women

yes you feel it coming out sometimes

i doesn't hurt when it comes out but it gives bad cramps in the lower abdomen, some girls have really bad crams some don`t have them at all.

it`s not a big deal for women it`s a big deal just for young teens

yes they are necessary, a lot of blood comes out.

not important for me, but for some i guess it`s important, its the beginning of fertility and you become a ``women``, its like the first time you guys c*um.

sometimes its a inconvenience because of the pains i mentioned earlier or because you want to have s3x and the bf does not want to get ``dirty``.

    i hope i helped

  21. Well it depends on how much flow comes out.

Most of the time I don't feel it coming out and a lot of times the blood can ruin my underwear cause I can't predict the exact time it's going to come.

The cramps I get with my period hurt.

It's made such a big deal of because it's possible for a girl 2 get pregnant after she's gotten her period

It is sooo not like peeing. Women can't control what comes out

It can also be extremely inconvenient.

  22. Haha. This is funny.

1-a girl normally starts cramping up befor she gets her period, she normally has an idea of when she should have it to get prepared.

2- I gues you could somtiems feel it come out?? (i don't understand why u would want ot know that..heh)

3- It can hurt, because of the cramping and other body aches u get from them.

4- YES pads and 'stuff' Are very necessary. It's not like peeing urself. it's just uncontrollable.

5- and yes, to some people the first one u get CAN be a big occasion, It resembled a new chapter in ur life, && it's a show that you are really growing up into woman hood.

    helpful?

  23. well consider yourself lucky being a guy every month we get our period. before, we get PMS and we get bad cramps, cravings, bloating, fatigue, and just being cranky pretty much. usually i will go thru severall pads llike 4 usually and it goes on from anywhere from 3-7 days mines usually like 6 days . and its really not like peeing yourself. sometimes, you can actually feel when its coming out, thats when you get the baddddddd cramps, and yea to some people its a big deal when you get your first because you are now into womanhood and it is very inconvient for doing any regular activity, even going to school and doing normal activities hope i helped
