For high school should I do Choir or Drama?

As an incoming freshman i want to be able to add some art to my schedule. I love to sing and am interested in acting but kinda shy. I enjoy writing my own songs so I'm not sure if choir would take away my original voice. thanks :]

Do both. It will help you broaden your range. In high school I did two choirs and drama and orchestra. In College I did Choir drama orchestra and marching band. Each thing is different. And it made me a more rounded performer.

I'd chose Drama, definitely. Even though being able to sing it's indeed a great gift, you won't learn it in a school choir (are you in high school?), but from your own experience and real teachers. in the other side, if you are young, Drama will give you many experience with dealing with different situations and being able to say or act what you are experiencing. It's a terrific way to live, being an actor. I'd chose the second, Drama.

Do both if you can, if you enjoy them both.  But if you have to choose one, maybe drama.  You get to do a lot in drama including sing, act, dance, etc.

I guess it is up to your personal preference. Do you want to sing or do you want to act. I think Drama offers you a lot more skills. Getting over stage fright will help you the rest of your life. In college when you are forced to give presentations you will have the hardest part of the assignment accomplished:  You will have no fear of talking in front of your peers. Drama will ring that out of you.

As you continue in life being a good speaking and having good stage presence can help in almost any profession including sales, law, teaching, business etc.  It is indispensable.  

Also, drama will probably teach you some of your classics.  Additionally you will have some singing in Theatre so you will still have the chance to develop your voice.

i think that you should go for drama. dont worry about looking silly everyone's going to be acting, and doing crazy stuff. doing drama will help you not to be so shy, and they can teach you alot more (if you already have a good voice)
