By the way, if there's another LAUSD... I'm talking about the Los Angeles Unified School District =]

I'm going to El Camino Real High School on Wednesday, and I was wondering.. how was school there like?

My parents were also thinking about transferring me to Granada Hills Charter High School in 10th Grade.. should I switch to there, or should I stay at El Camino?

I'd really love to hear your opinions =]

  1. My son just graduated from another area high school, and he had/has friends attending both GHCHS and El Camino.  "ElCo" is well-known for their academic decathalon team.  They're in a posh area of Woodland Hills.  Granada Hills is known for being a charter (and changing their calendar to run from August to end of May), with a highly-respected LAUSD magnet, and a very well-respected marching band, although I'd be hard pressed to say that area of Granada Hills is "nicer"  (it's not worse, but it's not better).

Do you live in Elco's area?  Would you be trying to get a permit to attend Granada?  Are your parents attempting to get you into the magnet or the SAS?  These and other questions would affect your opinion of Granada.

Elco is a fine school with plenty of class offerings.  So is Granada.  If you really want to check out Granada, have your parents go on tours and find out the chances of you getting in by lottery.  If you end up liking Elco, you and your parents won't freak when you realize how many families try to get into Granada and how tough the odds are.

Good luck, and if you're interested, message me and I will put you in touch with a few of the kids still at Granada.

  2. Go to Granada Hills, Its a much nicer area
