For horse riding disciplines, is it possible to compete just on a cross country course?

I do eventing, but I only like the show jumping and x-country course part. I seriously hate the dressage part so much that I'm thinking of dropping out of eventing and doing x-country and show jumping separate. But I wasn't sure if x-country is considered a discipline to compete in as if it were a regular "show". If it is, I'm dropping out of eventing and staying with x-country and show jumping. If not, I'm staying with eventing.

And please don't say "Endurance". I don't really like endurance.

  1. Yes cross country is a seperate show. But harder to find outside the 3 day events, 1 day events, etc. However I would consider mastering some basic dressage before just dumping it, even if you hate it, it will improve your communication with your horse thus improve your over all preformance in other events.... believe it is not my favorite event either but my horse enjoy's it and it does make us compete much better than before I was training her in dressage.

    safe riding! hope y'all suceed.
