  1. I'm assuming you have a 15 volt 60 watt bulb, as this won't work with an ordinary 120 volt or 240 volt bulb. 10 batteries in series give you 15 volts.

    60 watts at 15 volts is 4 amps.

    typical AAA batteries are rated at 1000 mA-hr, or 1 amp-hr.

    So the light will be on for 1/4 hour.

    But that is theoretical. Actually AAA batteries vary a lot from brand to brand.

    More importantly, they would have trouble delivering 4 amps for even a short period, so the bulb would be dim at best. This parameter (internal resistance) is not specified by battery manufacturers, so it's just a guess.

    If you actually wanted to light a 120 volt 60 watt bulb, you would need 120/1.55=77 AAA batteries.

    or 13 -- 9 volt batteries.
