  1. I have enough savings for to pay bills for about 4 months without working.  My expenses are $1800 a month.


  2. It really depends on how much money you have in the bank and other assets that can be liquidated versus bare bones budget.  

    It certainly helps to not have credit card debt, car, or other installment payments.

  3. In personal Finance, 3-6 month of expenses is the amount recommended to have in the bank just for these situations.  

    How long you can survive without working depends on your bank account and your home expenses.  But, unless you are a wealthy guy (they don't need to work to get cash, because they get interests and dividends and rents, etc.), you will probably need to go back to work within 6 months.
