  1. Wow, glamorous huh? Maybe when my Dad was a radio operator for Presidents Line in the 30's. Now you are lucky to get 24 hours in port. It all changed with the adoption of containerized shipping. Really with the hassle of increased and augmented security now a days it isn't even worth getting off the ship. I should know I have 30 years under my belt as a Captain.

  2. research vessels anywhere from 3-5 days... ; )  more than just moving commodity from a to b, you may typically spend a month underway at a time, though.

  3. Depends on the amount of cargo to be unloaded or loaded. Most container ships stay less than a full day. But container ships are fast turn around any way. Tankers are in for about 24 hours max. You are right about the glamour part. After the newness wears off, it is just another job. But you do get to see the world, some parts that you really don't want to see again. Been there, Done that.

  4. container ship 24hours

  5. It's all about efficiency and security...less than 24 hrs, and you likely won't leave the ship.
