  1. Usually 66% -80% of your pay up to a maximum depending on where you live. Payable until you have recovered from your injury.

  2. I have known people on it 20 years.

  3. It varies by state.

Some states limit lost wages benefits to 2 or 3 years, some until you'd be of retirement age.

For workers comp, you have to be injured at work, on the job, in such a way that a DOCTOR says you can't work.   You have to go back to the doctor regularly, and the insruance company can have a doctor look at you, too.

In many states, things like heart attacks that just happen to occur at work, are NOT workers compensable claims.

Workers comp is the line of insurance with the absolute most fraud.  So the companies look out pretty closely, to deny fraudulent claims.

  4. You apply by submitting a claim to your employer.  There is no "average" WC benefit - WC temp. disability payments are based on your earnings history.

  5. The gravy train is not rolling along like it use too....Were you really HURT at work? This is for people that are hurt and can't work, not for the lesiure life....If you had actually been hurt at work you would know how to apply....If you are hurt, you can apply for SS disability. By the way, they have investigators that spy on you and if they catch you mowing the lawn when you claim to have a "bad back" you and your bad back will be tossed in the pokey for fraud. True WC lasts till your doctor says your are well or the company contests it....
