  1. No president has ever "ruled over America"! The office of the president is not that of a supreme ruler or dictator. The office of the President must ANSWER TO the people of the U.S. AND the Congress, AND the Supreme Court.

  2. He ruled for 38 years until he was arrested by the blue coats as he was trying to excape in the Amazon.  No word has been heard of him since.

  3. It never ceases to amaze me the answers that some people can put on here and not get zapped by YA for being so insensitive and hateful and disrespectful.  Many of you suck! He served 8 wonderful years as our president! Thank  you!

  4. 8 And Got Bush senior elected also

  5. Reagan was the governor of California from 1967–1975, and president of the US from 1981–1989.

He ran in 1976, but lost the candidacy to Gerald Ford, but ran again in 1980, where he won against Jimmy Carter.

He was president for two terms, which is eight years in total.

  6. Zero - Presidents don't "rule".

  7. eight years--two terms. Your characterization of him ruling is misplaced. He governed as did the Congress: both Senators and state Representatives.

  8. 8 wonderful years.

and for all of you who are insulting the almighty one, you are obviously little college punks who dont remember the reagan years.  get off you mommy's computer and go to bed, its late.

  9. President Ronald Reagan presided over the Executive branch of our government for 8 years.

The President of the United States does not "rule". He is the head of the executive branch. The executive branch of Government makes sure that the laws of the United States are obeyed. The President of the United States is the head of the executive branch of government. This branch is very large so the President gets help from the Vice President, department heads (Cabinet members), and heads of independent agencies.

Then we have the Legislative branch which has the power to make laws.

The third branch of the U.S. government is called the Judicial. Courts decide arguments about the meaning of laws, how they are applied, and whether they break the rules of the Constitution.

So, you see when the Democrats say Bush is doing a bad job, they are really saying that they, as the majority of the legislative branch, are not capable or progressive enough to make laws. The Republicans who had the majority leadership for several years thought power was more important than progress. Our country needs a change. We need new Congressional members who can get the job done! We need conservative congressional members!

  10. He wasn't king, kings rule.  He was President for 8 years, I voted for him both times, those were good days back then.  I appreciated his leadership.  Before that he governed California, where I live and lived through his governorship here.

  11. he was in office for 2 terms. Thats 8 years.

  12. Eight years. I might even say eight wonderful years! It disgusts me how many young ignorant teenage liberal Democrats are trashing Reagan. He was a great president!

  13. 8 years

    Nixon 1969-1974?

you may be thinking of Ford.  He served out the rest of Nixon's term.  1974?-1977

Then Carter 1977-1981  He caused most of the problems that we are dealing with today

    Reagan's

    1980 election

inaugurated in 1981.  The day the hostages came home

    Served until 1989

    Bush 1989-1993

    Clinton's  1993-2001

Bush  2001-2009  Too long and I am a republican

    .

  14. WOW it amazes me to know that so many people have a strange idea about his years as President...those 8 years were very hard for the middle class, and then when Bush took over and the Reaganomics turned into Voodoo Economics things went from BAD to WORSE! but still better then BUSH.

As for the wall and the Russians...he really didn't do much about that, The wall came down because Germany's two sides became one and put itself back on the right track, while Russia kept crumbling from corruption, and civil unrest, so parts of it broke away, which caused the dis-banning of the Empire...Star Wars never got off the ground, he made no great dent in the War on Drugs, just a crappy music video CALLED STOP THE MADNESS!

And this is from your standard middle class guy who lived in the 80's and is again suffering because of a Republican named Bush

  15. He was a two term president, and one of the best in the last 50 years.

He took us out of the Democratic debacle of Carter and put America back where it belonged on the top.

  16. He served 2 terms but was senile for most of the second term.  I lived through the Reagan years.  He wasn't a hero, he was at best a likeable goofball....kind of like the slow guy in class.

  17. He was elected in 1980 running against CArter and later was reelected for another 4 years in 1984 running against Mondale winning a landslide of 49 states The law does not allow a third term only two terms

So our president Reagan was our executive between 1981 to until 1989

  18. Officially, it was eight years. Some suggest the last two years was handled by Baker and the First Lady. He was already have some spells due to the onset of Alzheimer's Disease. All's well that ends well.

Note: I watched his last press conference carefully and am convinced he simply could not field the questions anymore. He repeatedly lost his place and was at a loss. It was sad. It never happened again. No more spontaneous, rapid fire questions and answers after that day. Fortunately, there was no crisis and the economics of the day were doing well for most. And Nancy made sure nobody did anything without her riding shotgun. Tough lady. She just said, "No!"

  19. About two, no telling when the Alzheimer's kicked in and his staff took over.

In any event, does it really matter? Even if he had remained coherent chances are he still would have committed treason and wrecked the nation's economy since he was an idiot, maybe even dumber then Bush.

  20. He never RULED over America .. he was the President.  Here, in America, we don't have rulers, we have leaders .. and many of them.  We have a consistant and proven system of checks and balances.  Therefore, ONE cannot rule over our country.

He was the President for 2 consecutive terms.

  21. Zero. Reagan was president for 8 years--not a king.  We do not have "rulers" in America. Whether the right wing likes it or not.

  22. He was President for 8 years.  Most of that time Nancy was the de facto President.  She told him what to say and made him note cards because he couldn't remember.  He even got reality confused with movies he had been in, thinking the movies had really happened.

  23. He was there - bodily - for a couple of terms. His mind went wandering though!

That and Nancy went forecasting the nations' future with chicken bones and other Astrological voodoo!

  24. None...he was president for two terms, a total of eight years,

but that didn't make him a ruler...America has a congress

made up of representatives and senators who were elected by the people of their respective districts and regions...no one man can rule America, our forefathers made sure of this

when the constitution was written and ratified.

  25. Mr Reagan lead America He too had a backbone of steel When he called Russia the evil empire liberal went nuts When he pressured western Europe and the U K too install missiles to counter the ones they had in the east ''He was going to start WW 3 They made fun of his anti-missiles called it star wars and said it well never work Ho yes he lead this great country

  26. He was president for eight years, but he was mentally incapable of the task for more than half that time. He had Alzheimer's Disease, but forgot to tell anyone.

Also, he didn't serve the full eight years.

In the days following the assassination attempt, Alexander Haig was "in charge".

  27. President Reagan faithfully served the people of this nation for 8 years

  28. He served two four-year terms, but he never ran the show. Rather, he was a puppet for the most reactionary wing of the Republican party that sought to stir up racial and class tension, He was an embarrassment to the country and the world. On top of which, he -- as well as his handlers (GHW Bush, et al) and followers (such as anyone who thinks every public lavatory should be named in Reagan's honor, or anyone who thinks that the government should legislate personal morality) -- is the reason why a bunch of crackpots have flooded the Republican party and turned it into a crazy, church-lady sewing circle (but one that can ruin countries and lives).

  29. President don't rule but was indeed senile for most of his 8 years in office as the others have said.

And he was hardly great and sure as h**l didn't work hard. He got out of bed at 3 pm or so and had Nancy translate the stars and tea leaves for the remainder of the day

  30. He didn't "rule"

but, he was president for ALMOST 8 years.  He technically wasn't president in the days after he was shot and almost died ( in 1981)

  31. He served as president for two terms, but presidents do not "rule" over there country. The president is not "all powerful". We still have other branches of government that help run the country. This way not 1 man is in absolute control.
