For income taxation purposes, what is an australian resident & non resident?

I am talking about an alien who would be working in australia? I don't know if he would be considered a resident or a non resident to approximate how much tax his salary would be deducted from. Can't find it in the net, pls help. Tnx so much..

Check at the Australian Tax Office website for resources.  for example, there is a tool here to help determine whether you will be a resident or not
