For indian/ NRI cooks?..regarding ingredient in chocolate chip cookies?

brown sugar is almost unavailable here...i was thinking of alternatives like white sugar+molasses but then whats molasses called in our country?...is it the same as 'sharkkara' in kerala, which is brown coloured sweet balls made from raw sugar

  1. I always use white sugar, don;t worry if you don't have brown sugar. Molasses (Gur) will change the taste of chocolate chip cookies, so I would recommend that you avoid using it.


  2. i never have brown sugar at my house and i just don't use it and they still come out

    =]
