For indoor volleyball, can your clothing or hair touch the net or is this considered illegal?

I know it is illegal to make contact with the net, but how strict is this rule? Can you make incidental contact with your hair or loose clothing?

  1. If your hair comes into contact with the net it is not a violation, but usually a referee will think it is a jersey or body part so there is possibility that a net violation to be called. Clothing getting caught in the net is a violation and a referee will probably call it if there is noticeable movement.


  2. its illegal ur feet cannot even cross the middle line under the net. they count as net violations

  3. Anything on you touching the net is a Foul.  IE : Your clothes, your eyeglasses fall into the net. Your hand Ext Ext

    Now for your hair thou.  Hair is legally able to touch the net.  without a foul being called

  4. Technically it is a violation, it depends on the referee. If your hair is pulled back and just a tuft is out, then usually no, but if you are wearing loose or baggy clothes or your hair is just out loose, then they will be more likely to call it because you haven't taken the effort to keep it out of play.

  5. If it pulls or just moves the net, they will call it. But most refs are cool with slight contact if it doesn't interfere with the play.

  6. Usually during the play your not supposed to touch the net at all. Depending on your ref they might be less strict. Most refs will only call violations when the net moving or shaking because of conatact.

    MY COACH WAS IN NATIONALS AND THEY LOST CAUSE ONE GIRLS PONYTAIL BRUSHED AGAINST THE NET.

  8. Actally new rule in volleyball:  If you touch the net but you arn't attacking (Getting the ball) and it doesn't affect a point it doesn't matter.
