  1. without knowing how badly your injury still affects you, it is hard to say, but try a few in your area to see which fits you best. None will help if you don't go.

If your injury gets you down about your training, read a bit about Bill "Superfoot" Wallace

  2. Mixed Martial Arts,Combat Sambo or Krav Maga!

  3. #1  Keep mouth shut.

#2  Remember, there is always tomorrow.

#3  Do not boast about belts ( any colour).

    #4  There are no rules.

#5  Even the biggest guy has nuts.

  4. Haha Judomofo is a very skilled martial artist, but its not like he knows everything, no disrespect to Judomofo. ANY martial art works for self defense on the street. No one is superior to the other, but the ones I suggest are Muay Thai, Wrestling, Judo, or Krav Maga.

  5. forget judomofo, use artillery

  6. I would recommend either JuJitsu, Aikido or Judo - all of these arts are good for close quarters defense. They rely mostly on using the attacker's force against him, and taking the opponent off balance, which all 3 of these arts emphasize (Aikido in particular emphasizes circular motion, which I put to use in my JuJitsu training as well.)

JuJitsu is the parent art of both Aikido and Judo, so several of the techniques will be the same between the different arts. One thing about Judo - while it *does* work, you don't get the more damaging techniques that you may learn in JuJitsu or Aikido, since it's a sport-based martial art.

  7. ok here it is only thing that could help u win a fight on the street is your adrenaline rush. with out that u could not understand any thing that goes on becouse of your fight or flight system. even the most skilled fighter could get wooped in a street fight. in order to win a street fight control your adrenaline. thats all i have to say

  8. Keith i am the one that originally told you to ask Judomofo about krav maga if that is what you wanted to take, because I know he has actually trained it in israel, so he should be able to turn you on to some good resources in this country, unlike many here who are just telling you because it is the latest hottest thing..

I would suggest the style I train, Isshin-ryu karate, just because you don't have to be extremly flexible, and it ould fit an older person well. it is an Okinawin style and as such, has no fancy flashy moves, and has very effective self defense, however it does take quite a while until the self defense becomes automatic, and you seem to be in a bigger hurry then that. It is very hard to recomend a style when we don't know what's availible. if you want to e-mail me what is available in your area, and I will try to take a look or get information. I will also E-mail thsi link to judomofo so he is sure to see it, and i know he will do everything he can to stear you in the right direction, as will I.

Edit- As usual you have everybody recomending the style they train or what they have heard is good. the fact is that the instructor you have and how you train are far more importent then style.

  9. Ninjutsu because it allows you to customize movements this is helpful if you have an old injury you are worried about.
